Atlantic On-line FP - on comparison sites, not on Atlantic's own website

Hi all, I've seen an excellent tariff (for me) on three comparison sites, however the prices are not confirmed on Atlantic's own website whose price page has not been updated since September 2009. The tariff start date is 31 December 2009 so not that long ago, granted.

When I last changed supplier 18m or so ago I don't remember seeing anything with the price, just the tariff name during the actual switch process. I'm worried about switching to a product not detailed on their own website, especially as there's a £75 cancellation fee until 31 March 2011.

Am I fretting for nothing? Is this standard practice?

Thank you in advance for any advice given, much appreciated.

Thank you very much Plushchris. I'm a bit confused now as underlined extracts appear to be contradictory (my underlining, their bold).

Is the price fixed until 31 March 2011 or 31 August 2011? Or is it fixed until March 2011 at the internet rates as at 30 Dec 2009, and then capped at the internet rates as at 30 Mar 2009? Or other?? I will call them on Monday, but I'd really like to know other people's interpretations if possible please.

From the Atlantic website link above:
Atlantic Online FP allows you to fix your gas and electricity prices until 31 August 2011 at a discount below our standard Atlantic Internet rates^.

^An average reduction of 11.1% on general domestic no standing charge and an average reduction of 11.1% on economy 7 no standing charge electricity rates, and an average reduction of 10.3% on general domestic no standing charge gas rates, all such rates as at 30/03/09, paying by monthly Direct Debit only.
Take control - fix your energy prices until 31 August 2011

Linked from that page: ATLANTIC ONLINE FIXED PRICE (FP) Terms and Conditions
    5. Our prices for the supply of Your electricity and gas will be fixed until 31 March 2011 on the price plan for General Domestic NSC and Economy 7 NSC in your area as at 30 Dece mber 2009. The fixed prices are available only for customers who continue to take their electricity and gas from Us and are on the Atlantic Online FP product.

    6. The Atlantic Online FP tariff ends on 31 March 2011. After this date you will revert to the Atlantic Internet tariff.

    7. If you leave the Atlantic Online FP tariff at any time on or before 31 August 2010 an exit fee of £75 will be applied to your energy account. If you leave at any time on or after 1 September 2010 an exit fee of £35 will apply.

Hmm, that is a little confusing!

I would imagine its fixed until the 31st of August and the references to March are wrong as it states 31st of August on all the comparison sites

Bare in mind this tariff is FIXED and not capped, there is a difference.

Unfortunately not the four that I checked:
    Energyhelpline - 31 August
    Energylinx - 31 August
    EnergyShop - 31 March
    Moneysupermarket - 31 March

In a way I'm glad I'm not the only one to find it confusing :T

Thanks, I am thinking of it as fixed (I appreciate it's hugely different), but couldn't work out how the contradictory dates worked so was throwing out suggestions :D

I would give them a call on monday and make sure, I would have thought its August.

I only ever use Energyhelpline and always find them to accurate but in this case I would phone the supplier to be sure.

It may be there was another version of this tariff that was fixed until march then replaced with this one until august (making this V2 although not named as such - A possibility)

I think you're spot on, I'm sure I *have* seen V2 on one of them :T:T
Will call on Monday to double-check. March-August not heavy consumption for me normally, so won't make much difference, but was worried that I was misinterpreting things.

Thanks again for all your help, much appreciated!
