Not sure what network you are on but if you on vodaphone check if you have vodaphone passport. If you do then calls are as they would be from UK and if you have free minutes the calls just come from your monthly allocation.
p.s Very envious of you, just got back from Amsterdam. I love it there.:smileyhea0 -

Hi there,
If you have Vodafone Passport on your account then you will be able to make cheaper calls from Amsterdam back to the UK. Passport is an add-on to your account so you will need to make sure that you have it set up.
You can find out more about it here - Passport
When using Passport you will be charged a 75p connection fee and you can then speak for up to an hour using your standard UK calling rate.
SMS will cost 11p and will not be taken from your text bundle.
I trust this helps,

There are several Dutch SIM brands which specialise in cheap international calls
Lebara, Lyca, Ortel, Vectone, and I may have forgotten a couple
You mention you already have a Dutch mobile. If the rates are ok to Dutch numbers or you have inclusive minutes, you might use callthrough access such as the many Betamax contract VoIP brands like DialNow and JustVoip, or perhaps Localphone. Or you might swap to one of those above
Using your UK mobile is going to cost 35 to about 40 pence a minute for outgoing calls, and about 18p incoming, unless you have Vodafone Passport or perhaps the O2 add-on My Europe Extra. 75p per call on Vodafone; the free inclusive calls mentioned above may have been in their summer promotioin last year.
If you receive a lot of calls from UK, and still have contract inclusive minutes from O2 Orange or Virgin you might get a global roaming SIM with an Isle of Man number and forward to it from your inclusive m.inutes. Or on payg you might get giffgaff and foward that to the IoM SIM.0
