I haven't tried myself but reports on this board have been mixed - IIRC some getting an onscreen message saying they would need to visit a branch and at least one other saying that, having previously got that message on a number of occasions, eventually it was possible to do it online (seemly an intermittent event).
Perhaps you could try once a day at different times until either you are successful or you get an opportunity to call in at a branch.0 -

I too noticed on this board that the reports have been mixed, I have been trying almost everyday now, but the response is the same:Sorry. We can't process your account application online.
However, we may be able to process your application in a Lloyds TSB branch but we need to talk to you further about your application.
Simply call into any Lloyds TSB branch with;
An original document confirming your identity e.g. passport or driving licence.
An original document confirming your address e.g. utility bill or bank statement.0 -
I opened my second online a few months ago. I opened my third yesterday by phoning 0800 085 9174. It took about 15 minutes but was very straightforward.

Are you ignoring the statement that you can open on line if you are not already a LTSB current account holder (that's before you logon) or are you finding that the Vantage option appears when you are already logged on?
When logged on I can try to open another current account but the Vantage option is not available. I hope though that it would be OK to open the Select account and then upgrade it to Vantage but I'm not sure if that would be possible.0 -

It was a while ago but I'm pretty sure I opened a Classic account online and then upgraded it, again online, to Vantage.

I have 2 Vantage accounts but if I press the Apply Online > Current Account link I get:

LittleVoice wrote: »And may I take this opportunity to point out that their month runs from the SECOND working day. So that, for the January interest calculation, any money paid in between 1 and 4 January inclusive will not be counted towards the minimum £1K monthly deposit.0

Have always done my transfers on the 1st of the month (even when its a weekend or BH) and have always received my interest
So if you pay in £1K on 1 January, you meet the requirement for December. January conditions will be met if you pay in on 1 February.0
