Hey guys, I just wanna say a few things.. I don't know anyone 'personally' on here yet but I hope to soon.. as a student people always think that I spend my money on drinking and going out, when I never do. I'm from a low income family and my parents have always pushed me 'to do better' :D This place is a godsend as I want to use my student loans in a positive way so I can save rather than spend. This is a fantastic place that has inspired me to do so many things. My course is only two days a week but can not currently find a job, but have found loads on here to fill my time with, so thanks to everyone and have a fantastic 2010 :) xx

Well done you Tea...you will be able to come out of Uni not only with a degree, but not in debt (well maybe a little) and a sound understanding of living in the real world. Im sure you're parents are very proud of you!

Tea - I know a few students who aren't in debt or drinking and partying themselves into debt. I do know some that are stoozing off their student loans and have part-time jobs to build up savings / pay living expenses.

But in a city of 50000+ students they are definitely not the norm ;)

  • Afternoon all,

Been and done a 5k run for MAcmillian this morning-it was sooooo cold! I am pleased to say I came in dead last and was passed by a blind runner, couples walking and a young lad in a wheel chair (you should have seem this thing-it was GREAT! Like an off road wheel chair-massive wheels that went thru the mud and frozen grass!) I got a bottle of wine for my efforts and as they say, the only way is up!

Nice to see newbies and returners.

There has been a gas explosion/building collapse in Shrewsbury. My DH is there and for the first time in 12 years as him being a FF, I am worried...ho hum, lets not worry about that-he DID text me and tell me to make sure I couldn't smell gas from the pipe he drilled through yesterday so he must be ok....
