so people just don't see or appreciate when you are trying to help them Buffy.

Why don't you put the extra money in an account for the moment?

I would do but she would never accept a lump sum either.

It doesn't matter. Not in the grand scheme of things

I have said to mum I will put my rent up to so she can save for either a new boiler and/or a trip to Florida - cos she can't afford both. Her response was oh but I have to save it?

...and then I said, its not as though I can pay for the boiler outright and her response was no I suppose not and she walked out.

It shouldn't be you bailing your Mum out like this Buffy, unless the house is in joint names :( Putting up your rent by such a large amount is a very generous gesture but if it were me and I felt I wanted to contribute extra, I'd put some (perhaps £100 rather than the £200 you are offering) each month into a savings account and when you have enough for half the boiler, let her know. It's sharing the responsibility and also showing your Mum that she needs to be getting involved in what is her own house.

  • Happy birthday, Ames! :)

@ pap - If you're still taking suggestions, this is my favourite charity.

Just having a lazy day in Chesterfield at the moment as a hose on my car radiator decided to break just as I was coming in. It's in for repairs at the moment. God knows what that's going to cost. :( My DFD's nearly upon me but at this rate, I don't know if it'll be my DFD after all. :(

  • It should be BB, She has looked after me my whole life. Its what family does. She doesn't like the whole money side of things now she doesn't work, hates relying on others for money etc so just pretends its not important.

    thanks tho xxxxx

    Morning all

Happy birthday Ames - are you getting excited about Venice?

Hello Carrot - stop lurking and come chat.

We don't have an Ikea anywhere near but I do love having a wander around the kitchen stuff and the fabirc section. I think it appeals to my anally tidy side with all the different sized storage you can get....their bakeware/cookwear is fab too.

DD2 looks like death warmed up - she's all snuggled under her gingerbread man fleecy blanket looking pale and interesting.
