Whether I can download and see HD movies on my tv is a different thing
That will almost definitely depend on the specs of your television. Which inputs?

The machine is to be used mainly for designs and animation. I do watch some movies and plays on my pc, but may use the new set up to watch some movies in HD if it was possible. I guess one needs to have HD contents and a source to watch in HD.

Not sure why an explanation was needed as the question remains the same, what turns a pc into and HD pc, perhaps the question should not arise.

There is no such thing as a 'HD PC'. HD is a graphics term so you may need to clarify exactly what you're asking.

you dont need anything to go HD on a pc as such

a monitor with a high resolution
a pc/graphics set up thats capable of running it
my pc is a failry basic dual core machine with a low spec graphics card,2gb of ram
    but it plays blurays fine

if you are planning on using it to connect ot a TV then you need to look at the connections on that and how you are going to handle sound

If there is SKY+ box and then there is SKY HD box, there is a difference
    between the two, is there?

Thanks Custardy, I have been looking at various graphics cards and some of these are capable of reproducing HD. My question was also based on the trend towards HD networking within home and frankly the more I think it becomes more confusing.

If the next generation pc is going to be different then may be we should know a bit about it. If buying somethimg new, it is good to know the options availabe.
