Hamish, it's basically a wish list you have written.
ahhh it's another one of those trying to b1tch up Hamish thread - nice to see that people who are the most deluded in their views are the ones that take offence to Hamish's opinions.

I think probably from the other website he has open on his browser, hoping amongst hope that his 'orange hair' status has been revoked and he can post his short sighted, mainstream drivel in two places and not one.:D
to fair to him he's been much, much closer than you in his predictions - actually yours have been very, very wide of the mark.
it's probably your views that should be considered shortsighted and drivel don't you think?

i like your views Ad but you can't be having a go at Hamish when his opinions have been much closer to reality than yours.

In 2010 the drums for war will be beating ever louder. I'd look to 1935 for comparison, as events run out of control of the corrupt, venal politicians and one empire (USA) gives way to another (China) giving elite internationalists and bankers the chance to profiteer.
    • Economic and social disorder is increasing across Europe, temporarily hidden by the printing of money.
    • Peak oil means contested resources with Russia able to withhold gas supplies at will
    • As Copenhagen has shown the UN is as useless in realty as the League of Nations was
    • The Islamic/Western clash of civilisations is on a broader front month by month

A terrorist attack using nuclear/chemical/biological weapons is all too likely to be the trigger.

I'm not interested at looking at one year in isolation, I prefer thinking more medium to long term.

Anyone thinking the last year or so was just a "blip" and things will soon get back to "normal" are deluded.

We are on, or are approaching, the cusp of monumental changes to our way of life - on a par with the industrial revolution.

I'm only jokin chucky, I don't frequent this place as often as I did and Hamish doesn't offend me at all, he's kinda funny. As for his views, well I guess you could say that, but I see my views as looking beyond the governments temporary policies and into the yonder.

Secretly I believe even the most bullish of posters believe that there is real uncertainty that the current situation (treading water) can be maintained when these policies are removed.

I agree with the clueless comment, in fairness though Hamish's predictions are nothing more than a wish list likely many will be

you'd be stupid not to think that - not sure about treading water, but there is definite uncertainty.
but then again when would we have been certain of anything about the future...

How could I 'take offence' to Hamish's opinions, they are just a view of things from his perspective? Do you take offence to people's opinions?

As for being deluded - please feel free to read again my view on the severe budget and let me know in what way you might construe that as deluded. I will be happy to be proved wrong - then we will all expect to be richer this year.

I don't mind a fair argument, I don't mind a bit of real debate, but this sort of comment is why I don't join in much.

Not sure what any of that strange comment has to do with 2010 predictions! Do you have a view on the real budget to come after we elect a new government - whether it will be cuts or taxes, or both? Do you think it will be enough to address the deficit and please the financial markets, and enough to stave off rating changes and higher interest rates?
