Where the crafting happens......

Hello
We all seem to be a crafty (in a good way) bunch on MSE! I am planning on making a craft area in my home and would like ideas as to where to put it in my house and how to lay it out. So I thought it would be inspriational to see where others make their magic happen.
I have found this link online which gave loads of good ideas:
http://www.home-designing.com/2009/05/craft-room-home-studio-setup
At the moment I use a desk in my bedroom for sewing and crafting but it is not ideal and storage is becoming an issue. I could convert one of our huge cupboards either into a work area (although no natural light) or develop the area around the desk and use one of the cupboards as a storage area.
Well that is my dilemma, I look forward top seeing your fabulous work spaces and hearing your great ideas, thank you in advance!

I don't have a special work space
I just use the dining table once the kids are in bed - downside is clearing and boxing everything away once I'm finished. Other downside is that sometimes I would like to do some craftwork, but I can't be bothered lugging out all the boxes and storage.
My dream is my own craft room, but it's a while before any of the kids will leave home :rotfl:
I the meantime I am looking at a storage system along these lines: http://www.storage4crafts.com/shopx/home.php?cat=102
OP - in your situation I think I would convert one of the big cupboards for storage, and have the desk placed nearby where you can get some natural light.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I am really spoilt. I have the whole spare room. and my DH has kitted it out for me so that I have a sewing bench, a paper crafting area, storage cupboards and some nice wall racks for holding all of my buttons, cotton etc.
We don't have any kids yet though and the idea of what to do with all that stuff if we ever need the spare room makes my eyes water!craft craft craft!0 -

When my DD leaves her room will be mine! However since she is only 6 I have a long time to wait! I think I will need to keep using the desk and that is fine in the short term but I am hoping in the next year or so to buy solid wooden bedroom furniture instead of the white ikea set we have at the moment and I don't know how to get it to all blend in without looking silly. It would be so nice to have a proper crafting area.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

i am really lucky that our 'box' room won't even take a single bed and you can't swing a cat in it so it is my sewing/work room and i'm so excited about getting it finished, i've painted it a very pale pink and have white furniture so it looks massive and i love my dad and OH who have built it!!0

Spoke to OH and he has said that I can have one whole side of our bedroom to set up anyway that I would like, he will even allow me to have metal letters on the wall! So please keep the ideas coming!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0
