Internet cuts off everytime phone rings?!

Ive been with AOL for years, the last few months occasionally when the phone rings and someone answers it the internet connection cuts off like we are on dial up but we have had broadband for along time. Is there anything i can do to fix this problem or do i need to ring up AOL to get them to sort this out for me? thanks for any help x

You need to fit ADSL filters to every phone. Fixed my friends the otherday instantly as he hadn't got one fitted.
Sorry just read your post and missed it's only just developed. Your filter's (if fitted) may of developed a fault.

Are you using an extension lead from BT socket to ADSL modem/router? If you have all the wires jumbled there might be excessive cross talk between them causing issues. Also,is your phone cordless? try it with a bog standard phone and see if it improves.

Have you done anything to change the way things are connected?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

No! If the OP doesn't know yet whether they have microfilters everywhere, they don't need to start messing with the test socket yet.

OP: A filter is one of these: http://www.pulsetelecoms.co.uk/inc/img/products/prod_13541.jpg
You need to have one plugged straight into all of the phone sockets in your house, even ones you aren't using for the internet.

As well as the ring wire trick that page shows where and how to fit filters which is what was asked. He will already have been supplied with filters by AOL.

Checking what happens when plugged into the test socket will also confirm whether or not this really is a filter problem.

You usually only get 2 filters and that's not always enough

Don't forget if you have Sky TV or an alarm system connected to your phone line they need filtering too.
