Nice one, USED AND SOLD OUT and crap spec, yeah right.

I suppose its OK for the OP to spend their money on these, would you spend YOUR money on them I know I wouldn't.

    IBM Thinkpad T41 spec :
    512 Mb ram
    30Gb hard drive
    14.1" screen
    Os : XP Pro

This compares with what !?!?, I'd like to see you play most of the games online with this, you gotta be kidding me.
Cheap - Yes - but that's about all
How can you upgrade it to anything worthwhile
Just buy something decent in the first place IMHO
This to my mind is not moneysaving

If you are on a limited budget of £250, there is this MEDION AKOYA E5211 for £254.

None of the machines mentioned on this thread have a built in webcam though. For that you will have to pay extra.

The OP wants it to write essays on. It'll browse the web, play flash games, facebook games etc, do email and office applications absolutely fine.

If you're talking about laptops and online 3D gaming in the same sentence then you obviously quite frankly have no clue what the hell you're on about.

As for decent, the T41 when it was new was over £1200 and came with a 3 year onsite warranty. Despite its age, it'll probably still be going long after most stuff you can buy in PC World or Ebuyer thats under £1000.

As computershack has pointed out (as had I in my earlier post), Thinkpads are pretty bulletproof, will play online games perfectly well, and handle Office tasks without fuss...sounds like you want a Porche to go shopping in.....
