I see a lot of people predicting high 5000's by March. I think personally it will be lower than that. My guess is 53800
-
Lot's of bulls in here!
I think I most closely agree with StevieJ - I'm going for 5100 March and 6000 Year end, although if it drops through 5000 within the next two months I think it might continue to 4800 at lowest.Credit card balance/availability: £1400/£21,000
Overdraft balance/availability: £0/£1,900
Current accounts cash balance (0.1%):£0
High interest account balance/availability £3000/£7000
Cash: £800 Pension: c. £6,400
Smoke Free since 03/01/10: 7 Weeks, 600+ cigarettes!0 -
The poll majority verdict of 5500 or above does seem bullish but its easier to say that now that we've had a drop down.
I do think that we will continue to be negative for a month or so or maybe longer but Im not thinking this January will be the high tide mark in the long term because of currency weakness
Anyhow the average individual response was a prediction of : 5425.82 from 16 replies
Pretty similar to the poll, people dont think we'll go down much if at all from the year start.
Also we're not predicted to go up substantially from here which ironically might be why people are selling off this week, to take profits and repay shorter term commitments0 -

On March 9th 2009 the FTSE index of 100 top UK listed companies reached a low of 3,461
Today, Jan 1st it is: 5,412
The poll question is where will the index be on March 9th 2010 this year?
The lowest price for the 9th yesterday was 5,563.10
This makes the crowd very wise in predicting the FTSE 3 months in advance. Well done
23 people polled got the range broadly correct for the FTSE.
The average thread response also turned out to be highly accurate
Thrugelmir, Calchas, turbobob were all within 3% with their guesses.
