I have always said that in 'most' cases it is the account holders fault. Technically you are at fault if you allow payments on your account when you know the funds aren't going to be there and cleared. Cancel all outstanding s/o's and dd's.

Try walking a mile in my shoes!

Worked all our lives, lost jobs within two months of each other, can't find any work (we are trying). Told bank (actually went in) to cancel all DD's, they did not £630 worth of charges last month. We still have not had the money back. Cannot pay the rent and in danger of getting evicted.

Its a shame some people would rather be 'right' than good.

I absolutely agree with you. Have you registered with the consumer action group to reclaim your bank charges? Its your right to claim them back. I have a court allocation questionnaire to take to our local courts tomorrow with an exemption application for the fee as i cannot afford it, I have a severe disability which is going to cause me major problems getting there but if i can do you can too. Fight back, please don't let them beat you down. :grouphug: I wish you and your partner well for the future.

There but for the grace of God go I............don't you think:)

The people moaning about the fact that others are reclaiming these charges are missing the simple point that the charges are going to be reclaimed whether they like it or not.

    It's as simple as that.

Huffing and puffing about it won't change anything.

Phatmouse Despite what you think, I believe that everyone has grate symapthy with people such as yourselves, who fall on hard times. If it hasn't been ourselves, it has been a relative or a friend. If criticism is directed at any it most certainly is not againsr those whose affairs are thrown in to disarray by cruel fortune; it is directed to those who will not organise them properly.

Sincerely I do hope you get good and rewarding work very soon.
  • Is it the banks fault ? No.

Your anger should be directed at Income Support, not your bank.

I saw a form from the Social Security recently that had a disclaimer on the back that read roughly that if for some reason they don't get your payment to you on the agreed date they still won't be held responsible for any bank charges

The undeniable bottom line to all this is that the banks were making profits from people who could not organise their accounts. Now that is coming to end they will need a new group to prop up their shares or they will have to start on the rest of us. Does anyone really think that a person who pays half a dozen charges a month is going to manage their money better when the charges are REDUCED:confused:

Oh and by the way, there is no such a thing as a credit blacklist. :)

True, but anyone who has had thousands of pounds of charges, will not have a very good credit rating, and will find it difficult to get credit.

This thread is getting personal and against the ethos of the site, please understand that just because you don't agree with some-one's point of view flinging insults does not make your point more valid.

Having been a victim of charges on charges almost 20 years ago I was lucky enough to get out of the situation, I can't claim the charges back but I am not worrying about it, I just thank my lucky stars I don't pay any charges and that I am in a position to choose whether to use a particular bank etc.

If I was in my circumstances today WFTC would ensure that I was not living on less money than myself and my children needed to survive (not live).

Yes there are people who are useless at looking after their finances, people who eat food that makes them fat and therefore a burden to the NHS, lots of examples out there. If you are so perfect that you feel the need to come on the forum and make fun of people then it says so much more about you than the poor soul who is trying hard to get out of debt.
