These guys are totally disgusting. I mean, I have always paid my credit card on time and never gone over the limit and never gone over the limit of my overdraft. Recently I wrote to them demanding several hundred pounds in a rude and aggressive manner, using words that I had never heard of before until I came on here, asking for the money. I explained that I had always kept to my terms and condtions of the accounts, been organised with my finances, setting up direct debits where necessary and making sure funds had plenty of time to clear. Never had I missed a payment and used an excuse such as "I was on holiday" or "the dog ate my paying in slip", yet they wont send me any of the money I demanded.

I mean, I havent cost them anything in having to process charges and other stuff or been a total pain in the !!!!!! customer. Yet they wont pay up. I dont understand it when banks are apparently giving money back to the totally unorganised cant be bothered crew, who are running around like they have won the FA Cup with grins like Cheshire Cats - why give back to them and not to me? Maybe I should not bother making any more payments or be totally crap with my money and not pay on time. What do you think?

    What do you think?

I think you should get your coat.

If it was meant to be funny - it wasn't.

If it was meant to be taking the mick out of something or someone it's not constructed well enough for that to be clear to readers.

I've just registered on the Consumer Action Group forum to have a look at the initial letter and I can't see how it can be interpreted as rude or aggressive.

As far as the wording goes, are you suggesting that only those who study law should be entitled to protection under it?

Obviously your whole post is intended to be sarcastic, but people who use these letters are not gaining profits. They are recovering losses.

It is constructed well enough for anyone with a basic education to understand. I imagine that if people dont understand that you need to abide by your terms and conditions by paying on time and not going over limits then they wont understand this either so its not a problem.

As most terms and conditions aren't written in plain English, is it any wonder that people do not understand, or follow, them? I take it from your post that you are happy to agree to T&Cs that greatly disadvantage you or you are quite happy accept poor customer service.

what were you claiming for? - if you've always paid on time then you won't have late payment fees - the only extra you would pay would be the interest on any unpaid balance if you didn't clear the bill each month - & that's not what the action group claims are about, they are concerned with penalties etc

    Oh for heaven's sake.

Reclaiming unlawful bank charges is not about the banks dishing out free cash to the disorganised, it is about reclaiming money that should not have been taken in the first place. The banks have been making a packet from those in marginal difficulties essentially by bullying them, and they have now been caught out. The charges do not represent any realistic cost for whatever notification is sent (they cost the same to send as any piece of junk mail) and the banks are in no more risk of default when someone is 1p over their overdraft limit than they are when someone is 1p under it. And the argument that those with money should have their banking subsidised by unlawful charges levied on those in difficulties is morally repugnant.

If you manage your finances well, then great. But why the need for sarcastic outbursts aimed at people in different circumstances? These people are doing no more than claiming back money unlawfully taken from them, and the fact the banks are rolling over and returning it does demonstrate that they are running scared.

Is it really that difficult to accept that this is the way things are, and move on? Yes it would be nice if everyone managed their finances well, but the fact that some people don't does not make it right to steal from them, which is what these charges do. Why not just chill out, turn the sarcasm down a notch, and have a little more generosity of spirit?
