Ooh love the new diary, continued success this year x

My brother is in the forces too and just looking to buy a place in England, but he's been picky and has now missed the stamp duty relief!

Good luck with alcohol free days!

LOL - TPA what are your bridge fees?

I must be having a very dense day as when I first read it I thought it was membership of some card club where you play bridge. Then I read Cake's post and realised that I was being rather stupid:rotfl:

    Personal spends:

£900 for the year 2010 each (£75 per month) Not sure how i'm going to keep control of hubbies spends:rolleyes:

    Hi TPA,

we've been looking at ways to keep our personal spends on track and also to give ourselves some financial privacy (ie when one of us wants to buy the other a surprise present).

We're thinking of a pre-paid top up debit card thingie, like paypal offer here.

You could each have one, and set up a standing order for £75 a month onto it. Then when it's gone it's gone- easy budget management! simples ;)

Tell me about it, I feel sick each time I see the DD come out of the account!

Cake, how on earth could you forget those!! Doesn't it grate every time you cross or whenever the DD comes out of your account? Aw, i've just thought, we could be neighbours, working for the same firm! lol

chirpchirp you made me laugh, I supose if you don't have to pay to cross these great big metal things you might think I was playing cards:rotfl:

Oh no weezl I cannot get that out of my head now! Simples, simples, simples!!:rotfl:
It is a great idea though, will def. look into it.

My other boots arrived today (the ones I bought from my Christmas money) they are faulty too!! OMG I am just not destined to have any, thats two pairs ordered and had to be returned, oh well at least I got my new Kipling bag which I love:D. I will have the money refunded for the boots and unless I find a pair that are an absolute bargain I will manage with what I've already got (5 year old ones, but they don't have holes, so they will do!!:rotfl:)

Have had a sort out of coats today - husband is a 'coataholic', the coat hanger was getting so full it was vertually impossible to open the front door fully! I have managed to cull them by half! The 'spares' are currently on the spare bed waiting to be put in those sealable squashy bag things that only take up half the room:rolleyes:. (Have tried to get him to send them to the charity shop but he's having none of it!)

Must go and do some 'dysoning' now I know it doesn't take up too much electricity...thats for that whoever worked it out, It was going to be my excuse for 'dysoning' only once a month!:p

I have no idea how I forgot, used to be obsessed with making sure I had £5.40 in loose change :rotfl: Never used to grate because I only pay going home at the end of the week, and I didn't realise it was so much of the budget until today (guess you're going every day, ouch!)
Aw, i've just thought, we could be neighbours, working for the same firm! lol
That would be freaky! But we're definitely not neighbours because you're on the edge and I'm in Wales proper :p;)
  • OK, i've done the Dysoning...well downstairs anyway!:p

Hubbys in work and i'm still in my PJs!:D

Hmm, what should I do next? Dyson upstairs:cool:? Tidy up spare room:mad:? Get dressed:rolleyes:? Make a cuppa?:D

    TPAx

    Yep the cuppa wins!!:rotfl:

OK, am looking for a new home for our regular saver (8%) /ISA that is due to end soon (this is me n=being productive whilst still in my PJs at 15:22 and drinking tea whilst slobbing out on the sofa). I have seen this on the main pages:

Bank of Cyprus, 3.33% AER. Important! Not protected by UK safety scheme

The highest rate is with the Bank of Cyprus Cash ISA Bond, paying 3.33% AER on amounts above £1 in this telephone or post account. Transfers in from previous years’ ISAs are allowed within 6 weeks of opening the account, plus you can withdraw money, although you will be charged 180 days worth of interest.

Importantly, the account is NOT protected by the UK scheme but the Cypriot scheme, which covers covers the first €100,000 (c. £90,000). See the foreign banks section of the Are Your Savings Safe? guide.

Chart-32.gif Quick Stats. Rate: 3.33% fixed AER. Min. Deposit: £1. Allows transfers from previous years' ISAs?: Yes Access: Phone/Post

What do you think? Is it risky or not?
