Which android phone?
Am due an upgrade(o2/CPW) and am browsing for the 'best' phone. Currently got a tocco which was brand spankers new at the time and I loved it but now it's old news.
I don't want an iphone so don't bother trying to convince me!!
Have done a bit of research and everyone seems to be recommending Andriod. I want my phone now so not waiting for the nexus.
HTC seems to be my best bet but which one? I'd always presumed the Hero but there seems to be a few newish ones and my internet is on the go-slow so I'm giving up trying to compare.
Any suggestions? Oh and I don't want a blackberry- I don't need a filofax phone, just want it to
1. phone people
2. have a decent camera (doesnt have to be highest spec though)
3. easy internet browsing (facebook, hotmail, imdb, bbcnews etc)
4. look pretty
5. option for memory card for pics/vids
6. ....I like the idea of 'apps' too but not enough to get an iphone!!
Think that's about it.
Thanks in advance xx

I too have this problem - I want an android phone, but can't find one on the right contract with the details I want so have ended up going for a non android for the time being and will wait until android phones come out with better cameras! Ended up with a samsung jet (arriving tomorrow so virgin assure me, not sure I believe them tho as its 2nd Jan!), which is unfortunately not android but has all the other qualities I want.
The Samsung Galaxy looks about the best bet for me. Android, great camera, wifi/3g/gps, capacitative (sp?)touchscreen etc, however not on any tarrif I would consider (24months? do they think I was born yesterday?! No phone I have had for the last 6 years lasted a year!) or within my price range to buy outright (I like the support you get when you get it on contract from the mobile provider, so this wouldnt be a great option in my view anyway)
My brother has the HTC hero on 3 which is lovely and shiney, but he says I wouldnt like the camera - which leads me to believe its a bit pants, plus I've had some very bad experience with 3's coverage, and customer service - they are intent on not letting me leave them! I looked at the HTC tattoo, but again the camera was more than pants! my ideal phone would be a decent sony cybershot camera combined with android OS, wifi and 3g. unfortunately it aint a reality just now, so I'm on an 18m contract and hoping they improve by 2011 when I'm due an upgrade!
Good luck finding your new phone!0 -
The HTC hero ticks most of the boxes but the camera isn't the best, there's no flash its 5mp and is no worse than the iPhone's camera. There's also a new Motorola phone coming out called the milestone, also the new Sony xperia phone is based on Android which has got an excellent camera0

Rather than get a new phone, see if you can renew with an unlimited data package in return for 18 months, then get Google's Nexus One which will ship to the UK (comes unlocked)...

hi thats not really £330 because, you will have to pay 17.5% VAT and roughly 6% import fees so it will cost more than £450

hi,
I would advise to either get the sony ericsson x10 if you really want an android phone, or get the n900 - really good phone have got it myself.0 -
So what did you go for in the end wensday?
I can't recommend Android highly enough, its amazing, i love it.
I have a HTC Hero - would definitely recommend it but would say that the camera is poor indoors...
If you have the budget then the Nexus One is out in a week or two so not too long to wait.
The T-Mobile Pulse is cheap and is supposed to be very good also.0 -
Haven't got one yet, my pc came down with the blue screen of death so I left it for a while because I wanted to see what was available re online deals. Sooo now it doesn't seem so long til the Nexus will be here on a contract. Considering this............ :rolleyes:0
