Haha he wouldn't he'd have had the other half of you after his entire large Cheesy Bites! :D

Just been browsing sewing stuff (as you do when you're fed up of printing and collating!) and saw this - don't know how much use it'll be but might help to see it in action?

Thats so freaky - I've been doing my veil for the last 2 hours. And the gutting thing - all the lace I ordered is in 5metre lengths, me thinking that that would be enough.... nope, its about 1.5 metres short to go around the whole thing. AND I ran out of pins! So now I need to either buy about another £25 of lace, or shorten the veil significantly. Grrr!

Am I being thick here - how can 5 metres not be enough? It's almost three times the length of you!

Ooh, and would you say this was a 50s style dress?

    Yep very 50s, why?

Because its about 40cm past me to reach my train, and its not straight up and down, its over 1metre across so it drapes nicely. I still don't think I should be this short!

I've got this vision of you faffing with loads of lace trying to work it out and NIM coming home in an hour to a mummified fiancee! :D

Girls and I are going to a 50s night in London in July so I've been on the lookout for a dress pattern, I had been looking at halterneck style ones but I just spotted this somewhere in internet land and I like it much better. Hunt is on to find a similar pattern. What do you think it's made from? It looks quite a stiff material I think...

I'm wondering if I could use the pattern I've just used for me dres,, but add little sleeves (they're in the pattern) and make the skirt a bit bigger and gather it all in??

I'd think so. Looking at that its got a curved hem, so probably a full circle skirt which were very popular in the 50s, so you could use the bodice pattern, then make a full circle skirt to attach to it? Could even stick some petticoats under it if you wanted!

Better oooh - Ryanair just started flying Newcastle to Oslo. I'd love to go for a weekend there, and it looks like I'd be able to pretty cheaply (I was playing about for the lads stag do, for £100 each they could have 3 nights in Oslo - so much cheaper than Dublin!) Because they all work together though I think its going to have to be local as they can't really get time off work.
