I used to have loads of savings accounts, and having a new one the car account on the one hand its good Cinny, as its not one you need to access regularly at all. On the other hand if having lots of accounts stresses you then do a spreadsheet on one aco!!!! so it portions out how the money inside is divided. To stop you getting tempted I would say a seperate account may well be better, as you really need to leave the money there and not 'borrow' it as you never know when a car will need work.

I put away £50 per month Cinny to cover car tax and insurance for the year, and also give me about £220 left over to cover MOT and repairs (I am an old biddy driving an old banger though so you'll definitely need more for insurance than I do!) - I should up this to £55 per month really to cover breakdown cover too. It's good that you're starting to think about moving costs now, as you'll be able to put a little bit away for a long time, rather than have to save intensively for 6 months or something.

Thanks for the big list Dinah - all this is swimming round my head at the moment too of course, good to have someone else's thoughts!

I'll have a look online when I get home - try and find the hidden one! Its not a good idea me having the savings in one account for lots of things cause I keep on thinking 'Ooh, I have £xxx saved for my laptop!' When so much of it is actually for the car. Plus I'm a sucker for 'borrowing' money from other savings pots - I think my savings have gone down by about £200 since I stopped keeping an eye on things. By 'borrowing' from things :o Not something I'm proud of!

Dinah maybe you should get a job as a financial advisor ;)

That is good news about the deposit though, hope that it it right and you get that amount. Would be a great help!

I really should put money aside for car stuff. At least it is made easier now by OH and I sharing the car. He is so funny last night I was giving him a lift to work and he was asking me if I am still paying my cc off every month (which I do) and he said ' it is much easier for me to pay it off now for you than you to struggle later on'. Alright mr flash the cash haha :rotfl:Bless him though for being so sweet.

My friend text this morning and she is having her induction tomorrow. Really hope her baby comes by the weekend as I am down so could go visit!

I'm guilty of that too Cinny but have been good with it recently.

I don't understand Wendz, is your OH paying off your CC bill for you? I thought you only owed your dad? Nice of him though!! Fingers crossed for your friend!

Oh no he isn't paying it. I only spend on there and then keep the money in my account to pay it off every month so don't count it as a debt. He was just acting like I secretly am building up debt on it and haven't told him. Also showing off slightly that he has more money than me!

Yeah I am rubbish at explaining stories!

Dinah - you will have to have a look into it if you are interested, you are very knowledgeable about the subject.
