Hiya peeps!!! I too have lost my bootsing mojo of late and haven't really been for ages but must admit I'm getting excited about the 75% sale!! Hello to everyone from the old thread & hello to new peeps!

SS - love your poem its fab as ever! Glad to see you posting & not letting negative comments put you off!

Really hoping to get some fab bargains tomorrow!! Hope it is tomorrow!!

Can't believe all this hoo-harr about 'thanking' - really does it matter? I think not & can't believe people are pm-ing about it!! Personally I think if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all!!

Off to dig out my snowies in readiness - now to decide which stores to go to...
  • I think I've worked this out right - But please correct me if I've gone loopy...

    The 3 for 2 v’s Snowy Debate

It’s fair to say that the reason we save up and use the Snowy vouchers is so that we can leave Boots having made the very best use of them and the debate around the price point at which the No7 3for2 offer is preferable to buying individual and using a Snowy each time is interesting. Being if the 3for2 items are individually less than £10, then you should buy them individually and use a Snowy each time.

I’d like to introduce a new concept though (just to encourage alternative thinking).

If you approach the deal with a “what are you taking in and what are you taking out” then the whole approach to the debate is different.

    Scenario 1

I walk into Boots with 3 x £5 Snowy vouchers and £40 in my pocket. Therefore my total “Taking In” is theoretically £55.

My aim is to leave with as much value as I can.

So I buy 3 items of No7 on the 3for2 offer, each item costing £10 and use just one Snowy.

    Total Spend inc Snowy = £20 (£15 cash + £5 Snowy)

Total Value of goods = £30 (3 items valued at £10 each)

    Theoretical “Taking Out” therefore is £25 cash + 2 x £5 Snowy vouchers + £30 goods = £65

    Net benefit = +£10.

The alternative to the above would be to buy individually…..

So I buy 3 items of No7 individually each item costing £10 and use three Snowy vouchers.

    Total Spend inc Snowy = £30 (£15 cash + 3 x £5 Snowy)

Total Value of goods = £30 (3 items valued at £10 each)

    Theoretical “Taking Out” therefore is £25 cash + 0 x £5 Snowy vouchers + £30 goods = £55

    Net benefit = zero

So from my calculations, I believe that in all instances, you are best to use the 3for2 offer with just one Snowy on the basis that if you bought 3 items at £5 each then the following would occur…

    Scenario 2

I walk into Boots with 3 x £5 Snowey vouchers and £40 in my pocket. Therefore my total “Taking In” is theoretically £55.

My aim is to leave with as much value as I can.

So I buy 3 items of No7 on the 3for2 offer, each item costing £5 and use just one Snowy.

    Total Spend inc Snowy = £10 (£5 cash + £5 Snowy)

Total Value of goods = £15 (3 items valued at £5 each)

    Theoretical “Taking Out” therefore is £35 cash + 2 x £5 Snowy vouchers + £15 goods = £60

    Net benefit = +£5.

The alternative to the above would be to buy individually…..

So I buy 3 items of No7 individually each item costing £5 and use three Snowy vouchers.

    Total Spend inc Snowy = £15 (£0 cash + 3 x £5 Snowy)

Total Value of goods = £15 (3 items valued at £5 each)

    Theoretical “Taking Out” therefore is £40 cash + 0 x £5 Snowy vouchers + £15 goods = £55

    Net benefit = zero

Always nice to read about someones else's view/thinking just a tiny problem there is nothing you can buy for £5 from the NO7 range, you do have to part with some money.

I think the cheapest standard NO7 thing is the sponges at £5.50 each?

  • Private and confidential I think you missed out the fact that for every £5 you spend you get another snowy back

    So in your

    Scenario 1

So I buy 3 items of No7 on the 3for2 offer, each item costing £10 and use just one Snowy.

    Total Spend inc Snowy = £20 (£15 cash + £5 Snowy)

Total Value of goods = £30 (3 items valued at £10 each)

    Theoretical “Taking Out” therefore is £25 cash + 3 x £5 Snowy vouchers + £30 goods = £70

    Net benefit = +£15

The alternative to the above would be to buy individually…..

So I buy 3 items of No7 individually each item costing £10 and use three Snowy vouchers.

    Total Spend inc Snowy = £30 (£15 cash + 3 x £5 Snowy)

Total Value of goods = £30 (3 items valued at £10 each)

    Theoretical “Taking Out” therefore is £25 cash + 3 x £5 Snowy vouchers + £30 goods = £70

    Net benefit = +£15

So theoretically speaking in this case it doesn't make any difference whether you bought the items individually or on the 3 for 2 offer.

However, snowies are only worth something if you buy something with them, I mean they are not as good as cash (I know which of the two I rather had in my pocket). So if the item was £5 (theoretically speaking as there aren't any items for £5 or under unless you are so lucky as to find a reduced item that works), you would be better of buying them separately as you wouldn't have to spend any money and you would still get the items even though according to your calculations the net benefit would be less:

    Scenario 2

So I buy 3 items of No7 on the 3for2 offer, each item costing £5 and use just one Snowy.

    Total Spend inc Snowy = £10 (£5 cash + £5 Snowy)

Total Value of goods = £15 (3 items valued at £5 each)

    Theoretical “Taking Out” therefore is £35 cash + 3 x £5 Snowy vouchers + £15 goods = £65

    Net benefit = +£10.

The alternative to the above would be to buy individually…..

Net benefit = zero (you don't get another snowy as you don't spend any real cash)

    I hop this helps someone.

Does no-one else just buy what they need?
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)
