Waterwatcher - diet was going ok - lost 6ib last week!! Not had sucha good week this week though! Will need to get my act together - weigh in is Tuesday!
Beannie - I am bad - I used it!!! Spent £69 too! Mr S had loads of meat half price - so although I didn't actually 'need' right now, it it was very good value and will make food shopping cheaper over the next month - I feel very guilty about it! In fact was thinking today that I am probably making my budget a little too tight! Next month I want to clear the reamins of the MBNA card and get rid of it - Now £311 and £1000 off the Santander card - then I will cut down the payments a little to £1000 a month or just slightly over - with debt free date being payday in August. If I keep going on the budget I am doing it would be July - but I am really struggling at the moment! The Sanatnder CC os 0% til next Jan bit I just want it gone and OH is going to pay off my overdrafts when all the CC debt has gone!0 -
Had a bit of a funny episode with MBNA today - will only be amusing to those of us who have had to deal with sh** CC companies!!
The balance last month was £1.89 - it was that cos I thought I had paid the balance off but forgot about the interest! anyway - when I got paid I paid the £1.89 and cancelled my DD with my bank - MBNA recieved my payment a week before DD but still applied for the £1.89 - as I had cancelled it I got a lovely letter from MBNA saying they were charging me £12 for paying the £1.89 but cancelling the DD!
I got on the phone to them ready for a fight! They were lovely ' we appologise and will refund the £12 immediately blah blah blah' I said thankyou very much and I would like to close the account - next I am passed to 'closure department'
conversation kind of went like this:
Them - 'ah mrs .... are you sure you want to close the account?'
me - 'Yes please'
Them - 'but you are a valued customer and pay you account well - we can give you more credit, free balance tranfers, 0% cash transfers etc etc'
Me - 'no I just want to close the account'
Them - 'but might you not want to take out credit for big purchases soon?'
Me - 'no'
Them - 'well ok if your sure - but we will transfer the credit limit to your other MBNA card for you'
Me - 'what? you would double my credit limit on other card?'
Them - 'Yes of course'
Me - 'Ah no - just close the card!!!! Please!!!'
It was quite funny - but also a little scarey - through this site I have got myself into a situation where CC companies are being friendly and offereing me money so easily - In a previous life I might have taken them up on thier offers!!!
Anyway - card cancelled - also cancelled Barclaycard - so only my emergency MBNA card (will be gone next month!) and Santander left!0 -

***Warning - mega update alert***
I really should update more often!!
Had a horrible month in April - managed to make my budget so tight that really mesesd up with it - ended up with 2 DD being returned unpaid costing me £50 in bank charges! That has not happened for months!
Felt very pressured and down all month so wa very relieved when it got to payday - decided that I needed a bit of a break from such tight budgeting so set myself a little more for general spends but decided to keep a strict spending diary within the extra budget - I allocated £400 for spends over the month - this includes dinner money for kids, clubs for kids, cleaner and general spends) I knew I needed something new to wear - got several social occasions that are quite dressy and my normal atire out of work is jeans! Kids also needed new school shoes.
I also need to get loads from boots - I have been using up free samples and gifts of toiletaries and make up for months - but really need some skin care and make up this month!
I am shocked how much of that I have spent and I've got 3 weeks til payday!!! (£160 left!!) - I did get a lovely dress that was £65! but reduced from £130! which will be suitable for all occasions.
OH keeps talking about helping me with the debt - but not exactly sure what that means!! He said we would see when we get back from holiday next month (which he has paid for!)
It really gets me down thinking he could help me more - maybe I would be less stressed about it all if we were working together a bit more - I think he doesn't want to help cos he sees the debt as being my ex's! ( i had balance transfered some of his debt into my name before we split up and kept it for an easy life! - its a long story!) but surely after 3 years he can see that it would be better to get rid of it then save together for things we want in the future rather than him saving while I'm struggling!
I feel very alone with it all at the moment!:(
Not paid as much off this month - hopefully will pick up the pace again next month!:)
Sorry for the rant!0
