Can I just buy a new dongle to use with my existing sim?

Am on contract with 3, got a few months left, dongle is clearly not working and am pretty sure they won't give me a new one free (or even if they do it'll take a while and I need access to my internet asap so I can work from home). do places like carphone warehouse sell just the dongle that you can put your sim into?!
thanks in advance :)

Three are usually pretty good actually. I've replaced my dongle twice with them - once during the minimum term, and once outside of it. Not once have they charged me a penny to do so!

Failing that, any unlocked 3G dongle should work, but you will need to set up the connection manually, e.g. APN settings, etc.

thanks, Uh didn't think about it needing to be unlocked for network etc. I'll see what I can find tomorrow and if no luck I'll have to given them a call on sunday (dept I need is closed til then!) just hope no-one needs me to do any work tomorrow :D
  • If you don't get anywhere with a replacement the 3 dongles themselves are currently £19.99 to buy on PAYG, or you could get one off of ebay pretty cheap. Then you can just put your sim straight in.

Purchase one retail as scottishblondie said for probably around the £20 mark. Your current sim should still work.

phone 3 asking for a replacement at the earliest possible time.

I purchased a replacement dongle for use with t-mobile network, as we are paying £40 a month for it (free laptop deal) and it cost £20 plus we took 2 years insurance for another tenner. was our quickest way of getting back online within a couple of hours if youre despirate.
