Urgent Question (should say currency convert)!

About to book some internal flights online for 6 week tour to Australia. Similar to what I did this year, am using Nationwide Visa Debit Card as it is the cheapest way to book flights online.

When I have gone to book internal flights with www.jetstar.com.au from Darwin to Cairns (the Oz equivalent of Ryanair), I am asked this question and have no idea what to click. I don't want to book the flights until I know what to press. Any help!!!!!!

Thanks,

Rachel

  • Forgot to add that a couple of weeks ago, booked a train journey online and wasn't given this option and on the Nationwide statement had worked out at 1.774 when converting it into AUD. I presume this is what Nationwide themselves had worked it out to be!

This means nothing to me - lost!

    Google "dynamic currency conversion".

pay in AUD - then Nationwide decide what the conversion is and you'll get the bank rate...if you pay in GBP, the conversion is done for you and will likely be worse.

The travel money guide I think deals with this - always pay in local currency when given the option. If not given the option the conversion is done by your bank.

If you look at the current exchange rate on something like the BBC it's £1=$1.80. The rate you've been quoted at .5784 = $1.728 - so you would get about $0.07 worse a rate doing it that way.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
