I think I am losing it!
Not to worry - I abandoned that one as I decided to go for some more realistic short term goals - like making it to the end of the week
Why is the first week at work after Christmas always the hardest? It's not helped by the fact that 50% of the staff in my office are at home because of the weather and I'm sitting there frozen, but not quite able to bring myself to pretend I'm snowed in.0 -
Hurrah - lovely short day today and then on to my four day weeks from next week
My pay rise has now officially come through as well, so I can update my spreadsheets.
Looking forward to a fairly frugal weekend curled up in front of the TV with a slow cooker fondue and some red wine.0 -
Afternoon young man, hows you two?
Yay to 4 day weeks although I am on 3 day weeks from next week due to excessive holiday allowance still owing me :TProud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712

Mustn't grumble
Dinner is made, just about to do the dishes and wait for GF to get home. You can tell it's a cold and miserable day when it's ok to be in your PJs by 6pm... How are you (apart from the short weeks, that is)?0 -
I sometimes think there are web-cams around, was thinking how did edinburgher know I had my pjs on, ha! It is so cold, I have got two pairs of pj bottoms on and I'm still cold. Just had dinner too, OH didn't make it down as really bad out his way, I'll go to his tomorrow instead cos can arrive and leave during the day.
Enjoy the wine!0 -

PJs rule (remember that I live in a Victorian property and it's usually baltic!)
Ended up having a very quiet weekend hiding from the weather (seems to be becoming a recurring theme this year) and didn't do much.
We had a very tasty fondue made in the slow cooker on Saturday afternoon, with white wine, garlic, gruyere and emmental. There was foccacia, sweet red peppers and cherry toms for dunking as I managed to get to Lidl on Friday afternoon before the weather went miserable again. There's a certain homely pleasure about sitting in the warm kitchen with a bottle of cheap red and setting the world to rights, isn't there?
Sunday, by contrast, was a day of furious activity. I managed to make it to Sainsbury's, where I picked up lunch stuff and a decent looking three tier steamer with 50% off (£14.99). Slightly healthier cooking is one of my unwritten resolutions, so it should earn its keep soon.
It took me two and a half hours to get through my housework as I didn't do any last week (tsk tsk!) You know you've been neglecting the hoovering when an empty cylinder is filled in the space of 20 minutesManaged to clear out some unwanted/unused toiletries from the bathroom too and have got these bagged up along with some winter coats which no longer fit and some bed linen to take to the charity shop on Friday.
I'm now on four day weeks and am looking forward to my first Friday off - planning on cashing in my £80+ sealed jar and paying most of this into my savings along with the £230 I'm expecting from BB during the week.
Right - on with some real work!
*Edit: It looks like my pay rise has finally come throughHave sent off the forms to up my added pension payments accordingly. It might not be cool, but it sure is sensible....

Well, the coats are great quality, but I don't have the knowledge or inclination to sell them (they're ladies' coats) and my newly debt free GF wouldn't be that way inclined, either. At least by donating them a charity will make some money, someone will no doubt get a good deal and it frees up room in our cupboards..0 -

Fair enough, but selling on Ebay isn't rocket science so it might be worth your while to figure out how to do it in case you do end up getting rid of anything worth anything in the future. You can read how to do it on the site, then just have a sift through some people's better lsitings to see what's more effective. Please call me 'Pickle'
