    Fingers crossed for you xxx
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.
  • Thanks everyone - still really chuffed!

I am feeling pleased with myself as I managed 16 No Spend Day's in August. That does mean that I spent on at least half the days in the month which is shocking really.

Need to do better this month!!

  • Not much going on at the moment - sent off the RTB forms on Friday so they should have got them yesterday., Expecting my 1st letter any day now.

Having a super skint month as had loads of extra expenses with DD's school stuff plus I had to pay out for an issue that arose 3 years ago, kind of my fault so have paid it and asked for no contact from this person ever again!!

DS still not done his list for Uni - hopefully doing it this week. We have a lot of things already so not much to get.

    Bit boring - sorry!!

  • Beanie - it's hard to know what he needs and what he doesn't. he has the option of meal plans where the Uni provide all meals for £38 per week so we are pondering on this for the first term.

Had my letter regarding RTB, more forms to fill in and send back and also under new rules I have to have a meeting to prove who I am and where I live and then later on I have to have a meeting about where the funds will come from for the property.

Can't believe the ball is finally rolling, I have scheduled the meeting for this week so hopefully will all run smoothly.

Everything going well here, I have left one of the Committees I was on, hoping I will have more time to do what I want to do. I know today they were out fundraising (which I would have usually organised and ran) so I made sure I pottered around doing things I wanted to do and got loads done.
Have been sorting more paperwork to be handed to the new Treasurer and will meet her next weekend hopefully and then that is me over and done with except changing bank signatories.

I am so pleased I have made this decision, it will really show next summer as Apr - Aug was taken up with this event (every weekend would involve sorting things and fundraising and then there would be the event itself and 5 days taken for that).
I am so pleased I have my weekends back and will make sure I put them to good use.

Meals sound good for the first term.

    DS will be studying Physics.
He has been interested in Physics and Astronomy since he was little, he attended Space School during some of his summer holidays when he was a teenager so I am pleased he is getting to do what he wants to.
  • Had my RTB meeting this week, the lady was quite disorganised and asked for my application form - I told her I had sent it to her to start the process and I assumed she would have kept it as why would I need it back?!!?

She went off to get my file and there it was.....

I noticed in the file that she had me down as living 5 years less at my previous property which meant 5% less discount.
I asked her why she had the date she did and she said that it was what her computer said, she flicked through to my application form and there was the dates I had written and next to them she had written in different coloured pen the dates from the system.
Forgive me for being picky but if I was a few months out then she could put that down to being so long ago but to be 5 years out I wonder why she did not write to me or telephone me to ask about the difference??

Anyway the date they have is the date my ex took his name from the tenancy, I told the lady this and she reluctantly agreed to check her system again but I had to bear in mind they changed computer system in 2000 so the data may have been lost!!!
I have not heard back from her so assume she has the correct info now, if she does not I have loads of evidence that I lived there.

I know it's not loads but that 5% discount will equate to about £7k so not to be sniffed at.

I'm just glad I had done my research previously and knew the amount of discount I was entitled to - maybe they were hoping I wouldn't notice.

Next stage is to wait for valuation and then I have to sign to say yes or no to buying it - once I have the valuation I can get the mortgage broker to actually apply for the mortgage.
Am I hoping too much that this might be done by Xmas???

I have spare money to pay to debts now that DH has been paid back but will keep this separate in case it's needed for fees etc, don't want to have to scrabble around at Xmas for more money.

Other than that things are ticking along nicely, DS off to Uni next Sunday, just trying to get his bits and pieces ready.
