How do you label your jam jars?

I write on a bit of address label and stick it on. If it's for a present, I whip up a label and cut it nicely and stick it down with some PVA, have a bit of cloth cut to size to hide the origins and a length of ribbon.0

I use Avery Labels, using a Brushcript font which looks rather like Copper Plate handwriting. When the jars are empty I soak them in hot soapy water for a couple of hours and then the label will scrape off quite easily. Don't put the jars in a dishwater in the hope that the hot water will get the labels off. Somebody I know tried this and the paper really clogged the machine up.0

I just stumbled across this printable pdf of storage labels, not sure if this will be of any use to you jam makers out there but I hope so.

I just print off some free ones from the net, cut them out and stick them on with sellotape. Just peels off when your done.
I don't give them as gifts though, might need to be a bit more swish if I was going to do that.0 -
I use white stationary labels too. If the jars are for presents I make them little mob caps from scrap material and get my daughter to do some sort of illustration on the labels. She's quite artistic for nine so the labels look cute in a rustic sort of way.Val.0

Sorry, just saw that it was on jars of jam and wasn't sure where to list it.:o
Please move to a more appropriate thread if it isn't in the right one.

Hi there, my general principal is anything to hand and then peel it off and do a nice one if it ends up as a pressie. I have even been known to use a cut up back of an envelope stuck on with sellotape! Whatever you use DO label the jars as several weeks/months down the line lots of jams or chutneys look pretty similar and you could get a game similar to freezer roulette with your morning "jam" and toast!0

Thanks for that. There is a page on that site with a load of different styles of labels to print off.0
