Evening all!
Thanks for your many kind congratulations for reaching my 50% milestoneI have to admit to feeling very proud of myself today!
So, what's the news of the day?
Well, I sold a book on Amazon which after fees and postage will net me a whopping £2.51 :rotfl: I have made £91.69 this month in extra income though through Amazon, Quidco and selling a phone. Not to be sneezed at really. I should probably add my overtime from last month onto it as well as I will receive it this month. I have volunteered to do overtime at Easter too - Bank Holidays rock!
The job I applied for was in Edinburgh. I thought long and hard about the Glasgow one, but without a car it would be a pain in the bum to travel all that way, and as it wouldn't be in the city centre it would be a public transport nightmare. Still, what's for ye won't go by ye and all that
I'm up to £28 in sales on Ebay and have until Sunday to go. The Soap and Glory things I'm selling have LOADS of watchers, so I'm hoping they increase in price. I need to go and measure the collar of a shirt before I go to bed in response to a query!
Payday tomorrow, which is all fine and well. I'm not hugely excited though as with doing the Frugal Challenge I have to admit that I have been PADding all my money and haven't needed it for anything else. I'm going to see how long the £22 in my bank account lasts me! I need to go to the supermarket tomorrow after work, but I'm going to be writing a list first and sticking to it.
Right, long post and I have to find my tape measure before bed for this Ebay query! Night all.
Xx

yes, that's the key bit! i *always* meal plan, write a list and have a budget but today i failed on the last part. was aiming for 60 quid as we needed to stock up on quite a lot (have had a cheap week with DH in florida but he returns tomorrow and will want proper food!) and spent... 94!:eek::eek: but i did get 2 birthday presents that i hadn't budgeted for in the original 60, and loads of the stuff i normally buy but didn't necessarily need today (like kenco coffee, ritz, baby wipes) had offers that make sense when thought about over the whole month. and the 2010 annuals reduced to a pound so got 2 to put away for boys when they get a good report.
hope you have shown more restraint than i!Mortgage free as of 11/11/15 !

kenco coffee Where is this on offer please? I'm down to my last two jars (I go through about a big jar every fortnight, just for me as Mr Fresian doesn't drink it)

Evening all!
Sorry for the lack of posting today but I'm shatteredI spent the day doing spreadsheetery, and it drained me!
I did manage to go to Morrisons for the bits I needed but also got some whoopsies. I am going to be very lazy and just paste the highlights from my post in the Frugal Challenge as I'm off to bed soon.
So, on with the story!! (I've put extra comments in bold)
A good 'n' frugal day for me today. It's payday today and I'm still working on the basis of the budget running from the 1st of the month so have sent money to the bills account and otherwise leaving the rest of it untouched :A there is no way that my money will last until the 1st though, but I'm doing better than I thought!
I treated myself to payday lunch with my M&S giftcard, so spent no money there. I also used a £5 off in Boots voucher to buy No7 facewipes, so that will come off the already over-budget toiletries money. Harrumph. Only £1.50 spent on them though....does that make it ok?
I did have a good spend day today though as I had to buy some groceries. I bought everything on my list for good prices (total spend including whoopsies was £11.28) and got the following excellent whoopsies...(prices I paid are in green)
Quiche £1.8819p
Cheese £2.56 £1.29
Fresh Soup £1 each 15p each (bought three!)
Sausages 79p 12p
Sausages £2.12 (!) 12p
Cheese was on my list, nothing else on the whoopsies were, but the soup is now frozen for lunches at a future date. We will eat one packet of sausages tomorrow, the others have been frozen and the quiche has been halved and frozen. I'm very pleased with this! You should have seen me swooping like some kind of whoopsie-ninja on the 12p sausages
Other than that, I've charged my phone at work and had some lovely slow-cooked chicken for dinner. Hope everyone else had a frugalicious day
Here endeth the tale. *snooze*

Now I think about how much money I'm saving and what else that could be used for. Last night I saved £8.18 just on those whoopsies (The bread was half price too as were the onions!) and it's become second nature to me to check there first. I was even loitering to see if the woman with the Magic Reductions Gun would come back and reduced a couple of bits that hadn't been done yet!!
What I don't do, is harrass the staff into reducing things for me. It's bad in my local Tesco for that. They barely get time to put things on the shelves

I would never harrass the staff and I don't think I have ever seen anyone at Morrisons doing that either. I'd be far too embarrassed!!
As long as it's stuff that you WILL eat, and you CAN eat before it goes off or can be frozen, anything is game. Groceries are the one area where I budget a decent amount, so I know savings can be made and whoopsies are a big help in that department.Start Date: 27/11/2010

According to my MASSIVE SPREADSHEET OF FRUGALITY, my grocery spend this month has been £123.20 but if I had paid full price for the whoopsies it would have been £146.81 so I have saved £23.61 in whoopsies this month. Part of the actual spend has been cat things though - food and litter - so if I take this out I have spent £80.97 on myself and Mr Fresian which makes the £23 saved all the more impressive.
(Yes, I know it's a lot of money to spend on the cats, but they now have a months worth of food, and cat litter was a really good price the last time I went, so we have 60kg of it)
