Massive pile of CDs and DVDs has been offered up to the MusicMagpie gods for the princely sum of £7.93 :rotfl: Still, 10% Quidco cashback, if received, should mean another 79p. Not bad for things I'm not going to watch/listen to. Most of my music is now on the PC so I don't use CDs, especially as I have a dock for my iPod in the kitchen.

I have also listed two DVD box sets on Amazon so far and am about to list my Lost DVDs *sob* I did love the first couple of series but lost the will to watch it when they started fannying about with time travel!

Another 5 items decluttered, another £3.33 from the shiny magpies. I'm losing the will now!

Just going to list the Lost DVDs then bed.

Keep going FF - you're doing so well!

The fact that you'd started your new diary had somehow escaped me so I shall try to catch up with it over the weekend! xx

Is it really worth purchasing a carpet if she'll only be there for 6 months. Can you obtain a mahoosive rug to cover the majority of the carpet instead? Or borrow a carpet cleaner?

Same with the furniture. If shes in a hole she should be getting the room as is. Theres no point obtaining tons of new stuff specifically for her. You're doing her a huge favour as it is.

Be realistic and tell her things are tight for you too. Hopefully that will make her think twice about fiddling with the heating controls and all the other lovely things that lodgers do.

Honestly, carpet is essential - it used to be beige and only the gods know what colour it is now. It's foul and I wouldn't let anyone stay in a room with that carpet. Previous lodger allegedly used a carpet cleaner on it and it's still foul.

In terms of furniture, my plan is Freecycle and Gumtree. I'm not buying nice stuff, just stuff that isn't falling apart! The chest of drawers would probably do, same for the bedside cabinet, but the bed is falling apart and so is the wardrobe. I got the set from Argos for £100 five years ago so I'm surprised it's lasted as well as it has to be honest.

Redoing the room was always on my list of things for the year, just going to have to do it sooner now. My plan was to pay for it with Ebay, so I need to get my erse in gear and do it. I'm going to start taking photos of things this weekend and spend the morning tomorrow listing things. Oh the joys!

Looks like Mr Fresian's sister may be moving in with us for a few months.

He did tell her that one of the conditions would be that she sat down with me so I could show her how to budget properly :rotfl::rotfl:
