its more than enough an xbox 360 disk is simply a dual layer disk of 8.5gb so thats roughly the space you'll need, most installs vary from a little over 6gb to 7gb though, its good to install the disk as it takes the strain off the lense that reads the disks and it also helps with keeping the xbox cooler as its not drawing as much power to keep the tray continuosly spinning
It could be one of two problems, your lense is starting to go or is dirty, and yes it can effect only a few games, depends on the media the publisher has used, you can get 100 games work perfectly and just 1 that wont, i had it with Fifa 09, it would not work, had it replaced 3 times then thought it cant be a disk issue, used a lense cleaner and bingo worked fine
or like you said the game is faulty, i would expect argos to replace it, im not sure about a refund as i believe digital media is excluded from the money back guarantee
