Ruined a perfectly good NSD with £1.35 spent on salt. There has been none in our shops, so it was pricey but I'm sick of bland food
Also used some of my M&S giftcard to get sweets for the cinema later :j0 -
I did use DK a thick fluffy one I bought years ago and did not like very much. You might want to add more stitches and/or downsize the needles depending on what you have to use.

Hiya fayjmck happy new year to you too luv
Sorry I didn't make myself clear there, I was more thinking of life insurance? I know some people don't have it , but with kids maybe you do and forgot to include it.
Anyhoo, I wish I had been so organised with my kids when they were growing up maybe I wouldn't still have a mortgage now if they had had to pay their way like that, brilliant.
Still onwards and upwards, that is one of the reasons I am on here to get inspiration to stop spending money or at the very least cut down and then get rid of my mortgage obviously, seems to be working as well :j

When mashing potatoes for the freezer its best not to put too much butter in as it can make it a little sticky. I used to use an ice cream scoop to put blobs onto a lined baking sheet. When frozen I knocked them off into bags to store. When wanted I put the required amount onto a greased baking sheet and put still frozen into a hot oven. Instant duchess potatoes.
I can't remember who asked but I take out freezer meals in the morning and defrost all day in the kitchen or fridge if kitchen too warm.
Spaghetti with a sauce made from storecupboard ingredients for dinner tonight and the rest of the apple pie for pudding. Snowed in so it will be a NSD today as couldn't get to work in the charity shop.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0 -
Hello fellow frugallers:j:j
As with everywhere else we finally got the snow here in the South East - we've got a lot here for this area but nowhere near as severe as in other parts of the country. You can't drive in or out of my road but fortunately I normally walk to work. My boss is letting me leave an hour early so I can get back whilst it's still light. Small person is also off school although I think his Dad has plans to take him across to Mr T [10 min walk] just to stock up on a few of the basics which won't thrill him as he's a boy and doesn't care for shopping of any description:rolleyes::rolleyes:
I've spent the princely sum of £1.53 to get some more milk. I think that it would be wise to get some dried milk or UHT in so that I've got some in stock.
Following my freezer inventory at the weekend I'm going to have a bash at making pumpkin and coconut soup as I've still got the flesh from Halloween and I could do with the space. Never tried it before so should be interesting.
Thank you for the linky for the shower water saver- have ordered mine and sent the details onto my sister aswell. She and I regularly share frugal tips as she has to make her money stretch even further.
The small person's Scouts meeting has been called off for tonight so he won't be requiring the parents' taxi service. I think that I may may a start on seeing if my old pillows will be suitable for filling his beanbag now I've emptied it [whilst spilling little white bits all over the place] and washed it.
Have a good frugalling day- there's a film clip on one of the American moneysaving sites that shows you how to scoop up snow and then use it to make vanilla icecream:D:D That however, won't be featuring my my evening's entertainment plans:rotfl:

Hope you all stay warm and safe in the snow, I'm off for a lurk.

You can always cover it with a bit of leftover wallpaper, fabric or do a Blue Peter job and cover it with sticky back plastic.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0 -
I'm just knitting a tube in the round from some scraps of wool, I think I cast on 35 stitchs or similer. The reason I love a pringles tub is because they have that lovely metally bit at the bottom so your needles don't poke through, plus the obvious heigh advantage.

Rozzeepozee I would but the cheapest slow cooker you can find to try it out as I personally don't like the taste of food cooked this way. I will admit I haven't used a modern one and its about 20 years since I used one. Mine had a seperate ceramic pot that the food went into and I found the food had a funny twang when cooked. Things may have improved since then but don't waste your money until you check it out.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0
