    Have a wonderful day Lynda
Off for my Mother's day treat in a few minutes (Lunch with DD1) then a wander round the shops - very little in my purse so should be safe :D
Hope everyone has a lovely frugal weekend.
  • Good morning everyone. A hard week at work with long days, but up early as sun was shining and just had the "get up and go feeling". Everyone on here is such an inspiration - when I read the posts which have tips I squirrel them away, and when I read those which detail hardship I know that there will be an outpouring of advice and companionship. OH just got a job after nearly 3 years of unemployment. This doesnt mean our spending habits are going to change - in fact we are saving more now due to the fact we are focusing so much on what we actually spend, eat, do etc. Today I am girding my loins to bake cakes - something I havent done in many a year. Any advice gratefully received. Have fire extinguisher at ready!
  • Congratulations Lynda

Think I might try to put some garic down, they said on Gardener's World last night this is the last chance to do it. They said use horticultural garlic and I only have shop bought garlic but I guess it's worth a try. I know Nyk and others have grown garlic - what did you all use?

I planted cloves of shop bought garlic in Feb and the green tops are looking good so far. I've also put in horticultural Elephant garlic about 3 weeks ago but it isn't showing yet. That's got huge milder bulbs as it isn't garlic.

I'd get it in immediately if possible. Separate the cloves and plant so the tips are just showing.

Frugal task this morning was covering muffin size sponge cakes I nade yesterday with white sugarpaste icing and making little red roses and green leaves for the decoration for Mother's Day pressie.

OH went to the village "water pump" to collect a dustbin full of water for the toilet flushing.

Energy saving we managed to get into 5th place in the i-measure Moneysaving Carbon Club chart but it was a fluke - we are back down to 6th place as usual.

Woohoo, getting married in 5 1/2 hours! Very exciting :-) All going fine and the sun is shining, though 3 last minute cancellations from guests, not good when friends are so ill they can't make it to the wedding. Hope they will be feeling better soon!

Speak to you all in 2 weeks.... not sure if we'll have internet access at Boggle Hole! We're now going to be spending honeymoon gift money, so it doesn't count on my spreadsheet :-)

Congratulations lynda, have a lovely wedding and honeymoon xx xxx:):):)

Thanks for the advice.:T I was going to stick it in a pot, do you reckon that'd be ok? Funny you should mention the elephant garlic - I'd never heard of it before and just saw it on a garden centre website this morning and then you mentioned it. They said it was nice and mild and is lovely in salads. Will try my hand with my shop garlic and next year will be more organised and try the elephant kind.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Lynz - Sorry to hear about your tough week - but when you have saved enough to own your dream place, it will feel so good ! And definitely declutter before you move house - I didn't really bother with this and am now literally living with stuff stacked up to the ceiling on every side until I get rid of some of it

The great declutter started this morning with us parking up outside the charity shop and OH running in with 6 bags worth of gear. However, the bloke in the shop pointed out the bus-lane camera- and that we are bound to get done as its a) a camera- they got me b) its just the way this month seems to be going. S*dding typical _pale_ :wall:

Im hoping its ONLY 60 quid not more.

I have been crying again, this week feels very very frustrating - what the hell is the point of me going without- eg at the moment I don't even have a belt that fits :wall: and im waiting for a bargin to come my way to be frugal- yet will definately get some PCN again, paying 60 quid for the privilidge of taking stuff to chazza shop.
I had a wry smile to myself- SO THATS why they never have any decent stock in there!!

Oh well were here now, what could possibly go wrong at home?

Hope everyone is having a better day than me.

Hope to do some baking in a bit to cheer myself up, better not try anything too complex as it will definitely go wrong and I'll have wasted the ingredients.

    Sigh.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Hey everyone! Hows it going? Im finally getting some overtime in, 7 and a half hours for last Saturday and the same again today! So 15 hours time and a half in my pay on Friday :) Need to start doing it every single week and watch the pounds build up. Iv got £300 in an ISA that i put in on Thursday plus £700 in a savings bond i cant touch until November so i have £1000 saved up:j

Im getting everything sorted for my car tomorrow, back wiper and battery for key fob. Then i just need to change my number plate over and im away! NSD today even though dds have come out, £48.06 to my loan and £69.05 to clear cc that deisel has been going onto. Think im going to stop using that card and pay cash at petrol stations. So thats £117.11 to good cause :) And iv still got more than £160 to last me until Friday+£140 or so cash in my wallet and i shouldnt have to spend a penny so that £300 + £600 + pay will see things looking very healthy on Friday :D Even after buying myself a shiny new car at the start of the week which btw i love :D

Cant wait to serve my time, the money il be on then compared to now for the same job its actually unreal!
