Hello frugalites. Been so long since I was on this thread I will be surprised if I still know anyone.
Regrettably..my oil bill alone is going to blow the entire annual budget this year :rotfl:

Well, weekly spend is at £20.36 and it is only Wednesday! Argh! That is because my best friend is leaving work (we work together) and I put £10 in the collection tin. Still will be better tomorrow and try and make up for it.
The items I listed on ebay are making decent money- I think £30ish including the postage, so will probably come in at £25- I plan to use that towards the credit card bill.
Frugal activity is going to be more baking tomorrow, cutting up old towels to use for cleaning rags, taking books back to library to avoid fines and also get back into comping, not done any for coming on for a week. I won't win if I don't enter!:jCentre Parcs trip'[:j Creme egg cup :jStomp tickets:jVery Valentine book:jKoala :jbiscuits x3:jAll the Fun of the Fair tickets:jMini Cruise to Amsterdam:jRimmel lippy:jLightning Seeds tickets:jRistorante pizza:jSeeds:j3 Benefit Lippy:jrazor:jPuddle puppy:jwii and tennis game:jTrunki washbag:jAmazon voucher:j0 -
Hello janey:wave: nice to see you back.
Just popped in to say I got two lovely skirts for £7.45 yesterday at a charity shop. They are like new.
Busy couple of days then dh has a week off work so not sure how much I will be on the computer then.0 -
Hello to old faces ...and new ones
I have pneumonia so at home watching TV and burning logs and oil.
But...electric DD just reduced to £25/pm..a side effect of walking around in the dark.
And I cancelled SKY but succumbed to half price offer for a year so still better off than I was. I only have the cheapest package and it was a boon while I was recovering from an op and was snowed in for a month as well.
I can now walk to work so save about £80 a month on fuel :T
And, I am a lucky recipient of an unexpected £1000 work related benefit this week.
That will cover my extra oil costs which have been horrendous. The thaw brought 12 burst pipes which destroyed the new extension which was only completed in August 2009 following the house fire in 2007
The next person who tells me "things can only get better" will get buried in the flower bed.0 -
Been a quiet (NSD) day today after all running round yesterday. sent e-mail to HA with pics of window [STRIKE]c**k up[/STRIKE] - they are now talking compensation, finally, after 9 months of problems - anything will be a bonus. And it's finished. And it's warm
Frugaldom - the promised bad weather never arrived here - sitting in sun atm - sounds like you got it bad up there tho.
Just recycled small coffee table to friend of a friend -slowly but surely - I am getting there.Just need to recycle an uplighter now, will take it to charity shop if no takers ( it comes apart, so will be ok to take on bus)
Got letter to say phone bill going up again. Need to check and see if I can get any cheaper. Have phone/broadband/free tv package - but got freeview anyway, so don't use the set top box. Who does everyone think best just for phone/broadband???
Hi Janey51 - not met you before on this thread, but am still reading last thread 'Live on £4000 a year 2009 #1, up to page 150 now ! I will finish it, I will, I will :rotfl: - some great tips on there so thanks to all. Sorry you're not well Janey, look after yourself.
Hugs all round. When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

Hi Mama67, yes, I use a spoonful of the fat in the breadmaker. It seems to give the bread a little extra flavour and the loaves are lasting overnight without drying out as much. But I also used the fat to grease the tins for baking meat pies, used some in the pastry and am going to use some for stir fying tonight, so it's really handy to keep it rather than chuck it all out for the wild birds to feast on. (It doesn't set hard enough to make the fatballs or for packing into the half coconut shells.)
Every penny counts - at this rate I might not need to buy any more oil or lard in 2010
Meant to say - V!rg!n train fares sale is on today, if you travel a lot, you could try for some of their £5 tickets. My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).

Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.

My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -

Not the best of nights, but as it is free, I will be going and taking advantage of DH opening his wallet for a change. I will defo not be frugal tonight, this is a rare occurance.:rotfl:
