I dread to think just how many bananas I've thrown away over the years but am determined to have close to zero food waste this year. It's a really basic recipe & is rather yummy. As the oven is on I've made some more meat balls.

Banana cake?? i threw a hand of bananas away only the other day cos I didn't know what to do with them (should have asked here shouldn't I )

One very basic banana recipe...
Just bung all the ingredients in a food processor at the same time if you have one & mix, if not do the same in a bowl, you don't need to mix certain things at a time, just do it all together, dead easy
2 over ripe bananas, the worse they look the better
170g castor sugar
170g self raising flour
170g butter (you could use marge)
3 eggs
few drops of vanilla essence.
Put the mix in a loaf tin (I line mine with baking paper) & it takes about an hour in the oven at 160C. I just stick a skewer in to check it's cooked.0 -
Yayaya I found my mising Tesco receipt in the bin:eek::eek:so I can take my trousers back and get a refund, as all funds needed this week:o:o
Having a lazy day today, and a NSD as not moving out till later, when i'm taking Boo to my Aunties 80th party:D:D
I admire you lot growing your own fruit and veg.I love the idea of it, but in reality i just know I wouldn't keep up with it, plus the hounds would ruin it all:o:o
TOPDRAWER- did you get any peeps for the knit and biatch group?

Afternoon all!
I am trying to continue clearing out my flat today to make room for our lodger at the end of next month, not fun!
Today I'm tackling the kitchen, as we have too many pots/pans/plates/mugs and it's messy. I'm hiding from the oven cleaner at the moment and will wander off the internet to finish cleaning the oven in twenty minutes. Otherwise I'm going to feel high as a kite :rotfl:
I think I'm going to box up a set (non-matching of course!) of plates, mugs and so on and offer them on Freegle as a sort of student starter kit. It's all in good order, just taking up too much space!
I also have to Ebay some things tomorrow to take advantage of free listing, so have photos to take and descriptions to write.
Once the kitchen is clear I'm making flapjacks (mushing bananas into the mix should make banana flapjack I hope!!) and homemade soup then sitting on my erris to watch So You Think You Can Dance later on.
Have a lovely day all!

Just changed my gas & electric tariff, same company as it was the cheapest. The phone call was worth the time spent0

Afternoon all
Still sticking to minimum spends here, so very pleased.
I'm a bit stuck for free entertainment/hobbies, hubby & I often walk along the Thames path, but it's not passable at the moment. I like to knit, sew & crochet, but buying fabric, yarn etc is expensive, we both like to read but it cost £5.20 return to get to the library, there must be some free stuff we can do, but can't think of anything at the moment.
Hugs Hester

I just did a comparison hoping to get cash back if I switched - turns out that I can't get cheaper than I am on at the moment so sort of good

Been busy in the kitchen this morning. Made a fish pie for tea tomorrow and the rest will go towards work lunches. The excess fish I made into fish cakes for later in the week. Made a noodle veg stir fry with bottom-of-the-fridge veg for work lunches and made some sausage rolls as snacks for BF with not so nice left over sausages from the freezer. Off to clear out my wardrobe.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250

Sabs - You storage plans have just givem me an idea... thank-you! :T
2ndTR - That must have been so difficult for you and good luck caring for your mum. That was a very brave decision but I'm sure you have made the best decision you could have under the circumstances. Good luck... we are here if you need to talk...
I must have a think about some of what I want to grow this year - I've only really got my kitchen so it won't be much. Herbs and a bit of salad and a chilli plant. I do have some of those parmex carrot seeds though so I may try planting them in a box or 2 in the communal back garden. My neighbour has a dog that is into everything so there is only a tiny corner I could fence off a bit so it doesn't get pee'd on! :rotfl: I got one of these for Xmas so I need to try it out too... its tiny though! I may try corriander in it as I kill it normallyMortgage free as of 12/08/20!
