laptop won't load windows

    If i eject the cd with the iso files on it then that will get rid of them yes?

    Then reboot and have a look for what you said?

    It wont ruin the disc or files if you eject the CD now after that, just press the power button for 8 seconds, wait 2mins then restart as normal.

    Have done that and under DEVICE INFO it tells me the primary hard drive is 80GB.

    What do you reckon?

    Is that via Bios? you maybe getting a false reading (maybe)

    I pressed F2 when I started up the PC so I think thats bios?

    HOw would I know?

    Earlier on today when I was able to get in under safe mode everything was there but now I can't get in with safe mode to see anything.

    Ok BIOS is a very basic screen like this, (F2 or Del)

    Similar to the below picture.

    F2 brings up a different looking page but allows me to look at various settings such as order of boot device.

    If I press F12 I can get to BIOS setupwhich brings me to the same page as F2.

    I have been to the BIOS page you showed on this PC so perhaps its a Dell thing that it looks different with them?

    Thats cool, can you see the HDD size at all, have a look aruond :)

    yes all it tells me though is that the primary hard drive is 80GB.

    when I had ubuntu on it 'saw' the hard drive and stated is was 71.5 GB or thereabouts free.
    Just couldnt actually get into it!
