I have found out the name and address of the other driver which i am going to pass on to the various insurance companys .

The traffic officers who arrested him said that he is claiming that he had another drink when he got home after the accident to calm his nerve's and he is using that as a excuse for the amount of alcohol in his system .
But the police said that they can find out how much he was over the limit .

Also that the his insurance will be sky high for a number of years and that depending on the conviction given he will get points on his licence.

The best bit is that when he is brought before the court that a statement from the affected partys (victim statement) can be readout before his sentencing on how his crime has affected myself, and boy am i gonna make sure that they do .

I have to admit that the traffic officers have been realy helpful

I was also informed at the time that the MIB is not for compensating individuals, it is for compensating Insurance companies in the event of them being unable to recover their losses from an untraceable or uninsured driver.

That is not true. It is for compensating insured drivers for losses incurred due to uninsured drivers who cause accidents. My colleague's niece used them for her injury claim when an uninsured driver hit her car.

Although I notified my insurers I had been involved in an accident, I dealt with the third party insurer myself who settled my vehicle claim in two weeks. I had no excess to pay because I had not claimed from my own insurer so I got the full value of my car straightaway with no deduction. My premiums were unaffected by the accident on renewal.

That's interesting, because on the second occasion I was carrying a passenger who was injured and who pursued an injury claim via a solicitor. He ended up with nowt, and so did I. And I lost 10% NCB into the bargain.

The insurance company have now sent a letter telling me how much they are offering me the figure is so low its not even half of what we paid for the car .

Does anyone know a good place to get a guide of the price I should be asking for from the insurance company.

    http://www.parkers.co.uk/
    http://www.whatcar.com/valuations.aspx
    https://www.theaa.com/cbg/home.jsp

See what the average price comes out of from these sites. If you want others, just Google "car valuations" and you will get some more.

Remember, you will only get what the market value of your car is now, not what you paid for it. You can argue and it is right to reject their first offer but if you believe your car is worth a lot more than they say or worth more for a special reason, it will be up to you to prove it. We did just that with my car and got a huge increase in what they offered. We were able to prove however that the car was in near perfect condition, low mileage and a special in the range. It was for us to gather the evidence though, the insurer will not do it for you.

I have refused the 1st offer from the insurance company and the insurance assessor has said that he will pass it back to the insurance company.
