Idea: Policy for requesting phone advice
Hey,
I'm new here :j so I hope I'm not intruding by making this post, but in trying to help people out it occurred to me it'd be a lot easier if there was some kind of 'form' for people looking for help picking contracts, I say this having seen so many posts saying 'I'm looking for a Blackberry, what's the best deal?', and it's very hard to provide appropriate advice based on that level of knowledge.
Would it be possible to figure out together a suitable "form", not as a rule, just a suggestion, and create a sticky with it in? Just asking people to make sure they include:
If people followed these guidelines, we might get posts like:

Again, sorry for intruding :A, Happy New Year, and would anyone else like to input?

Would it be possible to figure out together a suitable "form", not as a rule, just a suggestion, and create a sticky with it in? Just asking people to make sure they include:
- The type of phone they're looking for, including any colours or features
- Any networks they particularly like or would want to avoid
- How many minutes and texts they think they need
If people followed these guidelines, we might get posts like:
I'm looking for the cheapest deal I can on a Blackberry with a QWERTY keyboard. I don't really mind which network it's on, but I know the signal for Orange is good in my area. I'm not a huge talker, so I only need about 100 minutes, but I'd like unlimited texts. Thanks!
Rather than:
I'm looking for a Blackberry.
Again, sorry for intruding :A, Happy New Year, and would anyone else like to input?
Hope that helps,
Mark

I think it should become a sticky. Probably would also need to update it with situations where mobile networks may let you out of a contract and when they won't e.g. They will let you out for some changes to t&c's but not if you just can't afford it anymore.0

Try working at Orange. All you get is 'I want a good deal, what will you give me?' to work from!
Nice idea, but nobody would adhere to it. And the stuff about contract cancellatons usually get their own seperate thread, or usually one reply would solve it.0
