Radio included when you buy a car

Twice I have bought a car from Ebay.

Both at (what I regard) excellent prices, and have in fact been great deals for me.

EACH time - I go to pick up the car, and the radio has been removed!

Both disucssions about it - the seller has said something of the line "oh, you dont get the radio included its worth x amount".

However, when they advertise the car, the radio/cd player is included in the interior pic.

Now I have found out that you can get a cheapo radio/cd player installed, but I am slightly annoyed when I thought about the fact that when you buy a 'car' from a dealership they would never do such a thing. im wondering if it is legal for them to do this and if anyone has similar experiences?

  • if it says the stereo is included then you should expect it to be there,i would never just go on pictures alone.

anyway as your finding out they are cheap enough to buy and easy enough to fit so shouldnt cost too much.

I would be annoyed too but I think that if it didn't have the fact that the cd player was included in the spec of the vehicle I don't think it immediately means it's part of the car. I mean, if it was me, I might forget to add the details in the ad but have it in the picture and I would let them have it but if THEY didn't obviously doesn't mean they would.

I suppose it's like if there was a picture of the inside and it had a sat nav and furry dice in the car in the picture as well you wouldn't expect to get that too.

So in answer to your question, I very much doubt it is illegal (not to say it isn't - just my opinion).

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Like buying a house and finding ALL the lightbulbs removed when you move in. BTW did the spec say it had 4 wheels?

If its the oem radio then I'd expect it to be included unless the ad said otherwise.
If its an aftermarket unit then you probably have less ground to stand on.

I once viewed a flat where not only had the light bulbs been removed, so had the light switches, light fittings and all curtain rails...

The estate agent was a bit embarrassed lol.

    2 issues really on this..

    a) If its a non-standard unit, then yes i would expect it not to be fitted.

    b) If its standard fit item, then i would expect it to be fitted.

Standard fit - ie..one where the radio uses the clock as a readout etc.

i bought a car off ebay too about 2 years ago and one of the pics had the blokes wife satnding next to it, how p*ssed was on when i didnt find her in the car, anyway
Did you ask the seller was it included and did the advert say it was included??

    in repsonse to
when you buy a 'car' from a dealership they would never do such a thing
that might have something to do with the fact that they sell cars.....most people who buy from a stealership want the complete package also the fact most dealers will sell the car as is as they wont want the hassle of sellign a cd player seperatly, but if there is 1k of ice in the car thats only work a grand itself they will take it out replace with a £49.99 stereo and sell the rest
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

It was the OEM radio, but it was an excellent one. I was disappointed tbh.

we all learn lessons, I learn on ebay to ask alot of questions, never assume anything.
