Lower energy consumption, when running you can run the ovens independently as well as the top, so if you only want the top on, you can, one oven on etc, eco function meaning it can go in to slumber mode when you are not wanting it on it at night, programble timer, so you can have it off when on holiday and timed to come back on when you return....... All built in a water mill that produces its own power.
Is yours a solid fuel rayburn?Pawpurrs x0 -
Hi - we ordered mid Dec I think and the wait was about 7 weeks. Interesting to hear that they are changing the control box - better having it under a normal door.
Cream looks really nice - I was tempted by the red... - but decided black would go best with kitchen.
No previous experience with ranges - just fancied one for years..
deffo more eco friendly in my kitchen - avoided having various walls knowcked around!!!0 -
I've had one for 8 years and wouldn't be without it now. They are fantastic cookers - very expensive though so not sure they should be brought up on this site!:money: BUT much cheaper to run than any other ranges on the market.Nice to save.0

hi all
i have an Everhot a green 90....
although very expensive it has definitely motivated me to cook more....
being on all the time means I try and plan to use it all the time...
porridge overnight for breakfast,
bread every afternoon,
cheap meat in the slow oven most days...
what else do people do with theirs to get the most use out of them?
I do turn the hot plates off when i know i will not be using them that day / afternoon ....
at the moment the only part of mine that is on is the slow oven as we cooked porridge overnight and i will put the lancashire hotpot in there later...
It would be great to share money saving tips for using Everhot's or other range cookers..

Hi artichoke
Yes I use mine to the full as well - lots of slow cooked curries (using chicken thighs) and chillis - brisket of beef etc. Definitely helps with the money saving if you ignore the initial cost!!
Keep meaning to make parsnip crisps in it as they are so expensive but haven't got around to experimenting with timings yet.

ohhh
parsnip crisps - how do you make those? would it work for beetroot too?
i need to find more ideas like this of how to use the everhot fully.....
any more ideas to share?
thanks

Well I am told that you can use a speed peeler (swivel head peeler) to peel off long strips of parsnip, beetroot etc then sprinkle with olive oil salt and pepper and put on a tray in the bottom oven but the person who told me this forgot to tell me how long to cook them for so I'm going to have to experiment a bit I think.
My other favourite thing is roast chestnuts - split them and roast them in the top oven for 20-25 minutes - delicious in this cold weather.Nice to save.0 -
hi
thanks for that i will try them out....
what temperatures do you generally keep your top and bottom ovens at?
and do you turn them off at all?
I have only had my Everhot since november and am still getting used to it...
I have been turning an oven off when i know i will not use it at all that day but i am not sure if it is a false economy in that it might use more energy to heat up again
any advice from an experienced Everhot user appreciated
thanks

I usually keep my top oven at 200 and my bottom one at 80 though I turn it up to 100 sometimes for casseroles etc (depends how long I'm cooking them for). I usually only turn them off in the summer when it is hot and I never turn my hotplate off (simmerplate off if it is really hot in the summer). My understanding is that it uses more power to heat up than to keep itself up to temperature but I'm not very technical . A friend of mine who has one uses a plug in consumption meter thing which she bought from Maplins which tells her exactly how much hers is using - she had to buy this as she had a huge electricity bill and her husband blamed her Everhot - he phoned the company and they said it wouldn't be using much more than their quoted costs even flat out and to get a meter to check it. They did this and found it wasn't the cooker which was using all the power but she said it's a very useful tool and she uses it to show her teenage kids how much power their gadgets use in standby mode :eek:Nice to save.0

Wow they look gorgeous - so jealous of you for being able to afford one! Maybe in a few years when our finances and business has recovered from the recession.0
