    Good evening ladies,

I apologise for this post and future ones as I will be going on about irrelevant things that have nothing to do with eBay, but I get such support from you all..even if I'm not doing well selling on eBay :rotfl:

Anyway, I have told Tax credits of my new status and then forgot to ask them how much I would be getting  I think I was thrown by the fact that they close my current 'couple' payment and take 4-6 weeks to set up the new one!

Am now going to look at income support but I thought someone on this thread had issues with 'earning' anything on eBay even if it was their stuff? If it is you, could you let me know pls?

I've booked in for a nervous breakdown December time, just to warn you, but in the meantime I just need some me time so I can actually list something! :rotfl:

I was approached earlier this year by a lady claiming benfits that had been called in for a 'chat' as someone had reported her for running a business on ebay. (she knows who it was and it was actually a close fmaily member who got the hump one day and regretted it immediately afterwards).

It wasn't terribly clear cut, she was selling a lot of second hand clothing and was running a private account. The benefit office were insistent that it was unlikely that she could sustain that amount of 'private' sales purely from a one bed council flat, it wasn't helped by the fact that she was selling an assortment of sizes and also some (not many) childrens items when she was in fact childless.

Her defence was that people very occasionally gave her things to sell as a sort of good will, feeling sorry for her type of thing, and she added them to her own pile of goods.

It did get nasty, her benefits were stopped at least for a while but i am not sure exactly where it all is currently.

I always urge people to have random photos available, overcrowded wardrobes, piles of things under th ebed sort of thing. Then if you do get questioned you can show photos that indicate you are a real hoarder and am now trying to get out of financial issues by selling your own things and decluttering at the same time.

Thanks Soolin, that is really good advice and I can easily provide evidence! :rotfl:

Free listing weekend coming up for private sellers

    http://www2.ebay.com/aw/uk/201009091446482.html

Be careful though, no third party listers (so that means no Turbo lister).

  • Thanks Soolin, will sort out some stuff, won't go mad though as I can't use Turbolister.

OH will be please (not) when I tell him it's a free listing weekend.

    Hello tmd, thanks for asking.

It's all very surreal tbh. Ex has offered us everything but I think that is because he hasn't come out of his guilt trip.

We are talking like adults now and while I am not missing him being in the house, I am missing him - well the old him.

I might have to try and get him back...in a year or so but I am going to be so much richer without him :rotfl:

Have sold a lamp and a coat so £47 in the kitty.

No other items listed yet as I have an assignment and an exam to do in a few weeks

  • Glad you are doing OK, it will be hard for a while, not nice to suddenly be in that position. Glad you sold a few things on Ebay, I haven't done much Personal stuff although will this weekend if it's free listing.
