Hi
I currently have a phone on O2 through Car Phone Warehouse O2
15 month upgrade due the weekend
Apparantley i either see the remaining three months out or pay up the remaining three months early as all iPhone contracts are administered by O2 direct.
Presently i pay £35 a month for 600 minutes and 1000 texts but use about a fifth of the both of them.
Ive seen the O2 simplicity deal but that means paying £440 for the phone.
Am i right in thinking that i will not be offered any deals on a new contract by either CPW or O2?
Thanks

You are, yes, and sadly the O2 deals for new customers are not particularly competitive. Based on your usage, you'd need the lowest level of iPhone service, and I'm guessing you want the newer 3GS model with the better, camera, video recording and 16GB capacity.
As such, and based on your usage requirements, your options are as follows:
Tesco Mobile
£20 per month for £60 of flexible calling credit, plus £320 upfront
The credit gets you 300 minutes or 600 texts, or any combo of the two plus unlimited iPhone data, and it's a 12 month contract.
O2
£30 per month for 75 minutes, 125 texts and unlimited data, plus £184.98 upfront for the phone (18 months), or £35 per month for 600 minutes, 500 texts and unlimited data, with a 24 month contract and £87.11 upfront.
Orange
£30 per month for 150 minutes, 250 texts and unlimited data, plus £125.00 upfront for the phone (24 months), or £35 per month for 600 minutes, 500 texts and unlimited data, with a 24 month contract and £87.00 upfront.
Vodafone If pre-ordered before 13th Jan
£30 per month for 300 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited Vodafone calls and unlimited data plus £150 upfront for the phone (24 months).
---
If you can live with the 3G rather than the 3GS, you can get exactly the same Vodafone package (which is the best one for you in my opinion) paying just £59 upfront rather than £150, or you can get the 3G free on a plan with 600 minutes instead of 300, for £35 per month.Hope that helps,
Mark

Hi
I've just upgraded to the iphone from CPW O2 and am now been billed by O2 direct, i did this in the 16th month of a 18 month contract and didn't have to pay the last 2 months
off as i was told it was still just an O2 upgrade.
May be worth trying again as we all know that what CPW say and what is true are usually totally different.0 -
If you've got 3 months of a contract left, I'd hang fire. Then hang fire another 3 months, and get the brand new iPhone that will be rumoured, and will probably come out in June/July this year...0

It will be announced then, it may not be out for sale for a while afterwards. Apple *tend* to annouce iphones at the June Developers Conference and typically have them in shops a few days /weeks afterwards. However there have been times when somethings announced then take a while to get to the shops.
In any event don;'t expect prices to drop, Apple often withdrawns the old line ans recalls it then sells the new, so there is not often a clearance sale. It may happen but I would hot hold your breath.
The biggest competition will be Google, they have deep pockets an once they formally announce the nexus one for sale they'll be going for apple hard.0 -

Hi
Thanks for the replies
The tariffs are so restrictive i'm literally just over on usage for the £30 deals and have loads left over on the £35 ones
Yes if i'm gonna get one it will have to be the 3GS
Was considering holding on for the 4 but time the first few have bugs that need sorting out and the inevitable waiting list will probably be autumn time before i get it
May have to look more at the Tesco deal looks interesting
Or if not see if the CPW thing about upgrading is true
Thanks again
