Tesco mobile in O2 phone

My wife has just lost her phone and I have an old Sony Ericsson W810 mobile that was on an O2 contract before. If I buy one of these http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-0225.aspx does anyone know if it would work ok?

No it doesn't work, the phones are locked to the service provider, not the network.

that is correct....however, majority of the time a Tesco network sim will work in an o2 handset ut not the other way around.
Alternatively, go into a Tesco Phone Shop & they will try it for you using a demo sim:j

The majority of o2 contract handsets come unlocked, that is why they work.

Works both ways on my iPhone, O2 sim works in Tesco iPhone, Tesco sim works in O2 iPhone, both iPhones are locked.

Just been in to Tesco, tested and worked fine so bought one thanks for advice all
