The numbers on saynoto0870 never worked properly. I then remembered i could just override cps and go through BT. I just signed up for Primus. They seem OK - at least you can actually get through and speak to someone!

I'm having problems with them too, with regard to the 1571 voicemail. I used to have this when I was with BT but when I changed it disappeared. I've now asked them twice (nicely) if I can have it back, but no luck so far. They've just emailed me tonight to say they are unable to process my application! I don't know why, they didn't say of course, I have to ring them tomorrow. Grrr!

I asked via email , and was told no problem will add.. allow 5 days... so I report if it happens/not

My blood boils regarding TalkTalk, they still owe us £43 and despite phoning, waiting 30 minutes to speak to someone. The person we got was useless!
Also, because we had now gone back to BT we were charged phoning an 0870 number. So last November 05 we were given a promotion not to miss and wouldn't be re-done. We had 3 month's line rental, anyway come Jan, Feb, March the bills reflected this no line rental.

Then mid March we get a letter saying oops there has been a mistake in the billing dept. Reads on down the letter, and thankfully it say's : because it's our error we won't be charging you as it is our mistake. Then a few weeks later they go into our bank account and take 3 months line rental:eek:

We have the letter as proof that they wouldn't charge us for Jan-Mar 06 but what about the free line rental promotion? They said it didn't exist.

So still waiting for our refund, when you e-mail we have given them our old phone number, account details and bank details. Then when you get a reply off another customer service person, they ask for it all over again...........

Be very careful if you are thinking of joining TT as to my mind they have been one of the worst in customer services to deal with.

Any advice, should I write to there MD Charles Dunstone or Oftcom?
Really fed up with them, it this was in reverse they would have defaulted me.

Rant over:T :j

If they have taken money by Direct Debit for money not owed, all you do is notify your bank that the DD was not authorised. The bank will ask you why and you give them the details in the letter. The bank will refund the money to your account and chase TT for reimbursement. Of course TT could then take you to the small claims court ... but that is unlikely and anyway you'd defend on the basis of the letter.

One of them just got me through to a switchboard. The other said they were closed after 6pm even though the main number said 8.

As many of you may know from reading this forum, we too have had a nightmare with Talktalk over the past few months - BUT I have to say that the email I received today REALLY restored my faith in them.

Having left them and returned (in order to get rid of their Line Rental), we were then charged for their Talk2 service when it should have been free. They also forgot to add Caller Display so I asked for it to be made free for a year. Today we received a £10 credit and a full apology, as well as confirmation of the free Talk2. And they didn't even ask 10 times for our security details....!

Persevere!

PS - ironically we had to sign up again for the line rental to get the free Talk2, but it's a better deal than we previously had so we're ahead for now.

So would switchboard put you through? You don't say and you seem disappointed that it was "just switchboard".

So they do work then.

You're right - they're not likely to take you to court. They'll just sell the 'debt' to collectors and they'll take you to court.

IMO it's better to pay them and then see them in court of your own volition. No credit record recriminations and you could always invite the press to watch if it does actually go as far as the courtroom. :rotfl:

I agree.

They are highly unlikely to attend a Small Claims Court hearing and, if your case is proven, they'll have to pay your costs and bailiff fees too.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
