Flaming TALKTALK awful service!!!!!!!!!

My blood boils regarding TalkTalk, they still owe us £43 and despite phoning, waiting 30 minutes to speak to someone. The person we got was useless!
Also, because we had now gone back to BT we were charged phoning an 0870 number. So last November 05 we were given a promotion not to miss and wouldn't be re-done. We had 3 month's line rental, anyway come Jan, Feb, March the bills reflected this no line rental.

Then mid March we get a letter saying oops there has been a mistake in the billing dept. Reads on down the letter, and thankfully it say's : because it's our error we won't be charging you as it is our mistake. Then a few weeks later they go into our bank account and take 3 months line rental:eek:

We have the letter as proof that they wouldn't charge us for Jan-Mar 06 but what about the free line rental promotion? They said it didn't exist.

So still waiting for our refund, when you e-mail we have given them our old phone number, account details and bank details. Then when you get a reply off another customer service person, they ask for it all over again...........

Be very careful if you are thinking of joining TT as to my mind they have been one of the worst in customer services to deal with.

Any advice, should I write to there MD Charles Dunstone or Oftcom?
Really fed up with them, it this was in reverse they would have defaulted me.

Rant over:T :j

I'd take them to small claims to recover the money they owe you. When the county court/judge rules in your favour, you should get your money back. If, after that, they still dont pay up.... you can obtain a warrant of execution from the county court and then send in the bailiffs to their offices to recover the debt they owe you.

I wouldn't waste your time telling them.... you can go straight to:

    https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco2/index.jsp

    to begin legal action :D

Of course, its just a bit unfortunate the debt isnt larger, because its probably not worth it for such a small amount....

Would you believe I have just checked my email and despite giving them for the umpteenth time my details the same rubish, under the data act we cant go any further, until you give us your details ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh:confused:

Thanks for your advice, would it cost me much to take them to the small claims?

    Thanks

It'll cost you £30 I think, but you are allowed to add that charge into your claim against them (along with interest on the money they owe you).

I'm about to go down the same path - I stopped phoning them ages ago when I got through to India. It wasn't going anywhere, so I did everything by letter. First letter went unanswered, second letter went to the company secretary addressed at the head office and I am waiting to see if they will answer that one. I have stated that letter is their final warning before taking court action and it was sent Special Delivery. They will get their court summons in a couple of weeks if I do not get a satisfactory response.

Hi, isn't it good what you have to do? Never known another company to go around in circles this much. I recommended a friend to get the 'free' line rental offer, do you know after asking them on 3 ocassions she never got the line rental off them. So gave up and went back to BT for her calls:confused:

    Other Posters be warned!

I can back up the problems 've had with TalkTalk, its definitely the billing side of the business that needs sorting out... my old folks changed to TT last year for their line rental, and they were doing the discounted broadband as well so took them up on the offer so i could have broadband while i stayed there, asked the guy if it would be billed together or seperately, he said seperately, so I asked if the broadband could be taken from a seperate account, "NO PROBLEM" he said as he took the other details, lo and behold, they took the phones AND the broadband out of BOTH accounts... took me 4 months to sort it out, couldnt wait to dump them either as the broadband service was a disgrace, dropped connections all the time "Must be a line problem" they said, "well thats amazing" I said "never had the problem with freeserve on the same line"... Rant over! :-)

I used to be with Tele2 and they were bought by TalkTalk. I have had nothing but problems since the take over. First of all they put me on the wrong plan. Then they send me a final demand (no bills, no reminders etc) so i phone them up and they say the DD was cancelled. I never cancelled the DD. I said it's fine for them to setup another DD and I gave them my debit card details to take the amount due. I have just tried to use the phone today and they have put a bar on the line! I have phoned one number which said they are closed at 6.30 and another number says that they are busy and I have to try later. I'm now having to phone 0870 numbers off my mobile!
The worst company I have ever dealt with by far!

0808 100 5152 (BT) and then CPS or 1899/18185/18866 your calls.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

There are non-ripoff numbers listed on Say no to 0870, you know.

Customer services is 01925 554949. Broadband services is 01925 554989.

I'm having problems with them too, with regard to the 1571 voicemail. I used to have this when I was with BT but when I changed it disappeared. I've now asked them twice (nicely) if I can have it back, but no luck so far. They've just emailed me tonight to say they are unable to process my application! I don't know why, they didn't say of course, I have to ring them tomorrow. Grrr!
