To be fair I think their on line marketing is pretty clear.

    Point taken.

But at the time I was going through the checkout process and my mind was on the purchase and my current card details so I'm not sure whether the full details of the Amazon card were presented to me at that time. If they were then they didn't register.

All of that information is clearly displayed should you take the time to read the documentation that accompanied your card. It really isn't that difficult to read the terms and conditions when applying for a card.. that is of course you can read.

So many people come on this forum moaning about getting stung with interest charges and god knows what else... it is what they agreed to upon taking up the card. Don't like it? Tough.

Agreed. Caveat Emptor. Everyone knows it but so many people don't bother to read and understand what they're signing up to. Banks and credit card companies must be rubbing their hands at this time of year because people are too keen to spend now and worry about it later.
If you will the end, you must will the means.

I actually never knew about it until you posted, but then again, I've never had the card or considered applying.

You shouldn't have to warn people though. If they are a card holder, then they should already know. Yes it is a pain reading all of the small print before applying for any financial product but the banks make these terms and conditions available for everyone to read for a reason.

    Well, get you smartie pants.

This site is designed for people to moan about injustices, real or perceived.

    Don't like it? Tough.

It's not injustice though. It is perfectly fair. If people have problems with paying charges or interest, perhaps they shouldn't hold any financial products. :)

Well it could be a warning to those who are considering getting one, now they will know if they only purchase from Amazon it will be interest free! Ive just saved them the job of reading the small print, especially useful for someone with poor eyesight who may be grateful i started the thread :o

But it may be perceived as injustice until someone explains the reality of the matter. Not everyone is finance savvy and that is what financial institutions take advantage of.

and on a slightly different tack I set up a payment for my NEW Amazon card through my bank using their online menu system.
    Payment made in good time.
Statement came today - payment not credited to the account and I have been hit with default charges and interest charges (having done a BT)
Turns out the information in the co-op system isn't for the correct Amazon account and my payment is in some sort of suspense account!
Co-op say they can't get it back; Amazon say they can't apparently HBOS have my money...
Amazon do say I will get the interest free back 'in a week'. I had better be getting the default charges and interest back, too...
    And my missing payment!
Ironically Amazon and I bank at the same bank!
Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY
