My sister swears by Ocado (lives in London) but unfortunately Ocado don't like our part of Scotland.... :(

I think it can be a bit pot luck with their delivery area - we don't have any Waitrose near to us, but fortunately we are in Ocado's area.

Went to Tesco yesterday by chance (wasn't planning on going) a mindfield of people in there but I didn't have to queue?! very odd!!

I gave up with home delivery also, I just cannot stand substitutions, the biggest joke was with Tesco whom I ordered something like 20 different bottles of 2liter drinks, frozen and fresh veg and some tins. I only got about 10% of the order, apparently everything out of stock. I had to pay £5.15 for some brussel sprouts!! my actual order would have been around £50. And no, I did not get a refund for this.
Sainsburys are as bad and Asda I don't shop with out of principal. Ocado don't do where I live, am not posh enough!!- they're too over priced anyway!!

All supermarkets near me closed today but the petrol station versions.

I've popped out to the supermarket just to get out of the house for a while - it's not really been 'going for a nice walk' weather round here! There aren't as many good mark downs these days with the opening hours increased and the computerised stock control getting better and better.

However, when I've popped out I have had to conclude that everyone else in there has a HUGE family and a very HECTIC social life over Xmas. I'm there with my basket for a bit of milk and bread (having everything else in stock) everyone else seemed to have a stacked trolley. Looking at people's trolleys (trollies?) it didn't seem that people were just going out for short term perishables (and for goodness sake I got cream with a two week date on it before Xmas) or just for post Xmas mark-downs. It seems people in my supermarket are very strapped for storage space at home or had such busy jet set lives that planning ahead for the entire Xmas period was out of the question.

I must say, though, it must be exciting to be in a position where you have so many surprise visitors and events over the two days when the shops are shut that you have to do an unexpected major emergency stock up of your drinks and snacks cupboard on the 27th! And, clearly, everyone shopping in my local Asda lives that life!
