It probably is, but id rather a removal tool was used to make sure all/most traces are gone

Have cleaned up the PC but I still have the original problem re black screen, Although it does disappear eventually, is really annoying as it takes so long to get on-line!

Id suggest now running a FULL scan with malwarebytes to be safe

Download CCLEANER
http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds/downloading-slim
Run the CLEANER scan (UNTICK 'cookies')
Then run the REGISTRY scan (Backup the registry when it asks)


reboot

Download GLARY UTILITIES

Run the ONE CLICK scan
Goto MODULES / SYSTEM TOOLS / WINDOWS STANDARD TOOLS / then run SYSTEM FILE CHECKER
