    I don't think you can do that with some of the older models, but it seems normal with the newer ones. I do the same with my Acer Aspire One.

    Have another at least two old Acer, where the battery has never been attached the machine. Be interested to see how that performs. I'm quite confident that it will be better than if it were used constantly over the last two years.
