have a look in device manager to see if the driver is installed
devmgmt.msc from the search box, or via control panel.!!

Using the keyboard: (Flying Windows key + Pause Break) > Device Manager. Are there any yellow exclamation/question marks?
Is the laptop connected to the Internet via other means at the moment?0 -
Is the wifi turned on?
Usually a small flip switch on the laptop somewhere
Otherwise do as suggested and check it is installed

Seems that you've been abandoned.... Using the keyboard: (Flying Windows key + Pause Break) > Device Manager > Click on the little + sign of Network Adaptors. Are there two listed?0
