Annual Rail Ticket - Wakefield to Kings Cross
Hi All,
I need to travel from Wakefield Westgate to London Kings Cross every day for the forseeable future.
Is it cheaper (and practical) to buy 2 Monthly Passes i.e. 1 from Wakefield to Doncaster and 1 from Doncaster to Kings Cross?
Also, is there somewhere where I can park cheaply in Wakefield which is within walking distance of the station?
Any help would be appreciated. I am sure there are people who make this journey every day.
thanks

You have no doubt found out that a monthly season ticket is £1051.80.
A yearly is £10956.00.
Have a play with the National Rail Season Ticket Calculator to see if splitting anywhere, Doncaster or Peterborough would be my first choices, will give any saving.0 -
Thanks! Much appreciated.0

200 miles is a heck of a long distance however when you think about it- it is halfway up the country and would take over 3 hours in a car to do. It does assuming it is done in return 5 times a week, 4 times a month work out to be 13p a mile.0 -

I had a 1.2 VW Polo as a company car (yeah, high flyer me :rotfl:) and at the time we worked out that it was costing around 9p a mile to fuel it - so if you factor in everything else that comes with car ownership 13p a mile for a commute by train isn't half bad.0 -

I've tried previously to split longer-distance routes to see if two season tickets would be cheaper than one, but have yet to find any savings: the splitting technique doesn't seem to apply to season tickets. Has anyone else found otherwise?0 -
A saving is available by splitting at Doncaster.
Wakefield - Doncaster one month season = £123.70.
Doncaster - Kings Cross one month season = £887.50.
Therefore total = £1011.20.
Ok, as a percentage... not a lot.
But it is £40.0
