I read that on the email, and I don't understand it - can someone please explain? There are 5 Fridays in January, but also in April, July, October and December.

Thanks - maybe the snow and ice has got to my brain!

lovely propert !!!!!!, but definately out of my league. I just dream of a house with cetnral heating, no upstairs neighbours and no damp so not too many aspirations.

This made me smile LT. One of the problems with buying housing over here, is what they call leaky building syndrome. Back in the cow boy days of building in new zealand, the govt and the building industry were a bit naughty, and there are a lot of houses, which might look alright but actually are rotting behind the plaster, due to leaks. They used wood that wasn't seasoned for long enough (alot of houses are still timber framed and battened). So that is one thing you have to check and check and check.

Then you have the situation where if you don't ask the right questions when you get the survey done, and there is a problem, then you don't have any come back at all on the surveyer. Add to that estate agents that basically tell you bare faced lies, and you can see that it is a complete mine field.

To such an extent that I at least am seriously considered keeping our house in the UK, which is fine structurally speaking, and continuing to rent over here. (though maybe not this house, cos it is not very weather tight either).

so I would much rather be in the uk.... and buying a house..
