    Good morning Hypno,

Hope you slept well, and hope your weigh in goes well.

There really are nice people in the world, we hear all about the bad things on the news etc., but things like the flowers and the chocolate bars prove there are really lots of nice people out there.

Have a good day everyone :)

WW at lunchtime - my scales at home show another lb or so off, so I hope to see the same results later on.....then I can start thinking about whether I can justify spending a silly amount of money on a handbag (would have to come out of the debt/savings pot) or whether I shall treat myself with something cheaper but still nice, and focus on the debt/savings pot growing a bit more.......

I'm not normally an advocate for splashing out cash, but a deal is a deal, and if you get something OK rather than what you really want, it won't feel the same. The idea is that this special treat will spur you on to lose the weight, so toning it down isn't so good, a nice handbag will last ages too, so treat it as an investment, it will also look good with the new outfits when you reach your target weight.

I had to get used to the idea that treats for me are actually something that should be on the priority list.

I am trying to be sensible and to start planning a workable "capsule" wardrobe of fewer, but better quality and cut, "classic" styles, complete with accessories.....generally for work, but not exclusively so. That means a few carefully chosen accessories such as bags and shoes, which will also stand the test of time.

I can get 10% cashback on quidco rather than go into the store......but it would still be £90 which is more than I have ever spent on a handbag before, so is quite difficult to get my head around in some ways!!

Well there's also the logic that a cheaper bag won't last as long or be as useable as the more expensive one, so the annual cost over it's useable life could work out cheaper.

Just realised you mentioned the magic W word. We've always had a seperate budget for work clothes, OH needs to 'look the part' and so did I when I was working, it also helps with confidence, and it does help with the general impression you give, like they say about job interviews, the first few seconds impression does count. So it was always something we had to find the money for.

I know money is tight and so is budgeting, but maybe including a budget for work clothes could be the way forward. I never counted buying work clothes as a treat, it was more like a uniform that had to be bought.

Morning - I'm still around - just haven;t posted as it would have turned into a very long rant !!!

Glad you are on target to treat yourself - stick to what you planned otherwise you'll keep thinking "I should have.................."

HOpe the mortgage gets sorted - our first payment on our new mortgage has gone out today !!! so will have to amend signature later.

We've made a decision to go away for Christmas somewhere warm - no reason to stay here now Mum is gone. so have to start saving!

Have a good day everyone - mines a long one as I've got work, hair cut, teaching, then on a governor training course 40 miles away!

    Morning Hypno!

Surfbabe - glad to see you here, and I'm glad to see you're standing back and taking stock - thats a lovely idea to go somewhere warm for Christmas.

Hypno - I'm *so* pleased that someone on here was thoughtful enough to send you flowers, how gorgeous is that!!! About the handbag, tho - I understand about the investment potential of a really good handbag, but still ... thats an awful lot of money. Isn't there a halfway house, £50 or so? Thats still 5 times more than I've ever paid for a bag!

Okay, yearning is different. You made the deal with yourself, if you really, really want it and you achieve your weight level, I'd say go for it.
