Hi guys......am back, and very tired! Training for DD started at 6.30 this morning.....:rolleyes:

Anyway, the news in the hypno household is that OH bike has died (again)....it is at the point, we have decided, that the thing is more trouble than it is worth, and much as he enjoys having the freedom of a bike, the ongoing expense puts it into the category of "a false economy"....

So, he is off to look at a car to replace it with.....only thing is, we have a budget of £1000......because I don't want to get into further debt for a car. But I don't want it to be another false economy that costs more in ongoing repairs than a new one would have cost on 0% finance :rolleyes: Oh the joys!

He has called up about one today, and is off to look at it this afternoon. We shall see......it has 12 months MOT on it, so that is a reasonable start, although I fully accept that it doesn't mean that it won't break down next week :rolleyes:

A car is not necessarily more reliable than a bike. So you could always look for another bike.

I agree, Z, and I really wish I didn't have to buy ANYTHING that was potentially unreliable.....but a bike isn't as practical as a car for us.....OH is the only one with a bike license.....you can't get skis and/or three teenagers on a bike.....and DD starts driving lessons next year, which is also something that needs to be taken into consideration.

So, all in all, as it is a case of having to make a decision on replacing with another bike, or a car, both of which we will be taking a chance on, due to our small budget, the car ticks more boxes right now.

That doesn't mean that OH will be without a bike forever, but again, it is a case of waiting til we can afford one that is more reliable.

Once the debt is gone, we can start saving for these things, but I just don't want to increase the debt at this point in time.
